A wrap bodysuit with a deep V and long sleeves

This wrap bodysuit from Numoco does the job of a wrap blouse without the gaping and retucking. The two front panels cross into a deep V-shaped neckline, the sleeves are long and fitted, and because it is a bodysuit it stays put inside your skirt or trousers.

The fabric is elastic. Sizes run from XS to XL and there are seven colours, from black and navy blue to red and bottle green.

The piece: one cut, seven models

Numoco gives every colour its own model number, and the descriptions are the same apart from the colour. You can order beige with white spots, bottle green, ecru, black, red, plain beige and navy blue. Three of those have "beige" in the button name on this page: "beige" is the spotted one, "beige 2" is the ecru and "beige 3" is the plain beige.

The first three photos show a dark pattern that the maker has stopped. It cannot be ordered.

The wholesaler files the piece under shapewear and our old title said "smoothing". The maker's description speaks of an elastic, comfortable bodysuit and claims no shaping. We leave it at that. For six of the seven colours the supplier states Polish production; for the spotted beige it says nothing.

Who it's for

For you if you like a neat line at the waist. A bodysuit cannot bunch up or slip out, which makes it the tidy partner for high-waisted trousers and fitted skirts.

The neckline is deep. In the photos it shows a good deal of chest, so think about a bra with a low centre, or a lace top underneath if you want it more closed.

Fabric and feel: two compositions

Check this before you choose a colour, because the fabric is not the same for all of them. The spotted beige, black, red, plain beige and navy blue are 95% polyester with 5% spandex. The bottle green and the ecru are 70% polyester with 30% viscose and no spandex in the list.

The maker calls the material elastic and pleasant to the touch for every colour. In the photos it is smooth and matte and lies close to the body.

Fit and silhouette: close, with a real length

Unlike most bodysuits, this one comes with a length: 63 cm in XS, 64 cm in S, 66 cm in M and L, and 67 cm in XL. If you have a long torso, that number is worth comparing with a bodysuit you own.

The chest runs from 84 cm in XS to 94 cm in XL, in steps of 2 to 4 cm, and the waist from 68 to 78 cm. The sizes sit close together, so one size up or down is a small change. The maker's hips column does not add up, and we left it out.

Styling: one top, many bottoms

The maker suggests a skirt or trousers, and the photos run through the options: a wrap skirt, black coated trousers, blue jeans with a belt, a shiny mini skirt.

For work, I would take the navy with tailored trousers and a long pendant that sits in the V. The red is a December colour and looks strong with black. The spotted beige is the soft one and reads almost like a blouse.

Occasions

It goes to the office under a blazer, to dinner with a skirt, to a party with coated trousers. The maker says it is comfortable to wear all day, and a bodysuit that stays tucked is a real help on a long day.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data has no care instructions, so follow the label sewn into the bodysuit. Because the fabric differs per colour, do not assume the green or ecru one washes like the black one.

The wow detail: a V that holds its place

On a wrap blouse the neckline moves all day. Here the crossed panels are anchored below the waist by the bodysuit itself, so the V stays where it was when you got dressed. The long line from collarbone to waistband is what makes this simple piece look sharp.
