This pearl-look pendant necklace is one you look at twice. A large pearl-look bead sits inside a net of fine chain, small teardrop stones are set into the net, and a smaller pearl-look drop hangs underneath.

There are two versions. Rose Red is gold in tone with red stones, and Sapphire Blue is silver in tone with blue stones. The supplier describes the bead as pearl-style, so read it as a pearl look and not as a real pearl.

The old product name spoke of a "metal net bag", and the supplier text describes it as a gift bag that comes with the necklace. The photos tell a different story: the metal net is the pendant itself, wrapped around the bead like a little string bag. No separate pouch is shown, so we do not promise one.

Where the net meets the chain there is a small bar with clear sparkling stones. The pendant hangs as a lavalier, a drop that sits lower than a small charm would.

Materials: honest about the gaps

The supplier calls the chain silver or gold in tone and the bead pearl-style. It does not name the base metal, any plating, the type of stones or the material of the bead. So we describe colours and looks, and we make no claim of real gold, silver, pearl or gemstone.

Size and length

The supplier gives no chain length and no pendant size. In the photo where it is held between two fingers, the pendant looks about as long as a finger. The supplier says the drop hangs lower than a standard pendant and that the size works for layering with other chains. If you need the exact chain length, ask us before you order.

Styling

Wear the gold and red version over black or deep green for evenings in winter; it picks up candlelight. The silver and blue one looks fresh on white and navy. Keep other jewellery small, maybe a pair of studs, and let the pendant be the thing people ask about.

Occasions

It suits a Christmas dinner, a theatre night or a birthday dinner. As a gift for someone who likes vintage pieces it works well, as long as you tell them it is a pearl look.

Care

The supplier gives no care instructions. As general practice for costume jewellery, keep it away from water, perfume and lotion, wipe it with a soft dry cloth and store it on its own so the fine net does not tangle with other chains.

Look closely at the net. The chain links cross over the bead and hold a stone at each crossing, so the pearl look shows through the gaps. It is a small, slightly mad idea, and we like it for exactly that reason.
