A gold-tone heart necklace with a pearl-look drop

This heart necklace brings a few small pieces together at the front. Two different gold-tone chains meet at a tiny open heart. Below it hangs a blue teardrop stone, then a puffed heart, and under the heart a thin drop chain ends in a small white pearl-look bead.

The supplier gives the material as titanium steel with a gold tone. Gold here is the colour, not the metal.

The piece: two chains, one heart

The idea behind it is simple: it looks like you layered two necklaces, but it is one. One side is a larger chain with oval links, the other a finer, boxier chain. They join at the front, and from there the pendant and the drop chain hang in a Y shape.

The supplier describes the pendant as a heart with a pearl and zircon accents. In the photos the zircon is the blue teardrop stone above the heart. We sell it without a brand, because the supplier names no maker.

Who it's for

For you if you like the layered look but don't want to untangle two necklaces every morning. It also suits someone who wears a lot of black or white and likes one warm, gold-coloured detail at the neckline.

Materials: the supplier's statement

According to the supplier, the chain and pendant are titanium steel with a gold-tone finish, and the necklace is light to wear. The supplier gives no weight and no plating details.

The bead at the end of the drop chain has an irregular shape in the photos. The supplier calls it a pearl, but does not say whether it is freshwater, cultured or imitation, so we can't tell you either. We have no hallmark or certificate on file for this piece. If that matters to you, ask us before you order.

Length: what the photos tell you

The supplier gives no chain length and no clasp type. On the model the heart sits on the breastbone, a little below the collarbones, and the bead hangs a few centimetres lower in the neckline of her blazer.

That is a hint, not a measurement. If you want it to sit at a certain point, ask us for the length before you order and we will check with the supplier.

Styling: an open neckline

The drop chain needs space, so an open neckline shows it off: a V-neck, a blazer worn without a top underneath like in the photo, or a shirt with the top buttons open. Over a crew neck the bead will rest on the fabric, which also works on a plain dark jumper.

Leave other necklaces off. It already looks layered on its own, and small gold-tone earrings are enough next to it.

Occasions

Wear it to work under an open blazer, or to dinner with a black dress. It is also an easy gift for Sinterklaas or a birthday, since a necklace needs no size.

Care: keep the drop away from water

The supplier gives no care instructions. As general practice for gold-tone jewellery with a pearl or pearl-look bead: put it on after perfume and hand cream, take it off before you shower or swim, and wipe it with a soft dry cloth. Store it flat or hanging, so the two chains and the drop chain don't knot.

The wow detail: the drop that hangs lower

Most heart necklaces stop at the heart. This one keeps going: a thin chain drops below it and ends in a small pearl-look bead. It moves when you move, and it pulls the eye down into the neckline, which makes a small necklace feel longer.
