Description
A large square checked scarf you can wear as a shawl
This scarf is a square of 148 × 148 cm. That is big enough to fold into a triangle and wear over a coat, to wrap twice around your neck, or to pull over your shoulders indoors.
The fabric is 80% viscose and 20% wool, woven in a two-tone check with frayed fringe along the edges. Nine colourways are available.

The piece: one scarf, many colourways
The wholesaler sells this scarf under its labels AT and Factory Price, with a separate model number for every colourway. The description is the same for all of them: a blend of viscose and wool, a geometric pattern, 148 × 148 cm, with fringes.
The supplier's colour names are rough. Four versions are simply called grey and three are called blue, and our buttons copy that with numbers behind them. Going by the order of the photos, the colourways you can order are cream and grey, grey, navy blue, grey and beige, light blue, cream and light blue, pale pink, cream and blue, and blue.
Who it's for
For you if you want one scarf that can stand in for a second layer. At this size it covers the chest and shoulders when your coat is open.
It is a lot of fabric. If you like a small, neat scarf tucked into a collar, this will feel like too much.
Closer look: maker's data and photos
- Blend of viscose and wool, pleasant to the touch according to the supplier (maker's data)
- Geometric, dominant pattern (maker's data); a two-tone check (photos)
- 148 × 148 cm (maker's data)
- Delicate fringes (maker's data); frayed edges on all sides (photos)
- In several colourways part of the scarf is plain and part is checked (photos)
The plain part is clearest in the grey and beige version, where one end is solid grey.
Fabric and feel: viscose with 20% wool
The composition is 80% viscose and 20% wool. Viscose makes up most of it, which gives a soft, supple cloth that drapes easily. The wool adds some body. The supplier describes the texture as pleasant to the touch.
If your skin reacts to wool, note that it is one fifth of the fabric. The maker does not say which kind of wool.
Size and dimensions: 148 by 148 cm
There is one size: a square with sides of 148 cm. Folded corner to corner you get a triangle with a long edge of roughly two metres, enough to cross at the back and bring forward again.
Unfolded, it works as a shawl over the shoulders or as a lap blanket on a train.
Styling: over a coat, in a triangle
Most photos show the scarf folded into a triangle with the point at the front, over a long coat or a blazer. That is the easiest way to wear a square this size.
For cold days, wrap it twice and tuck the ends in, as in the light blue photos. The grey versions go with almost any coat. The pale pink and the cream ones look good against beige and camel.
Occasions
This is an autumn and winter scarf for every day: the commute, the school run, a walk on the beach. It also makes a good gift, because the size is the same for everyone.
Care: follow the label
The maker's data has no care instructions, so go by the label on the scarf. Fabrics with viscose and wool often shrink or felt in a warm machine wash, so read the label before the first wash.
The wow detail: the size
Nearly a metre and a half on each side. You notice it the first time you unfold it, and again the first time you sit outside in October and pull it around you.
Fashion that gives back
5% of each sale goes to a cause you choose. The causes are matched to 11 of the 17 SDGs, the global goals set by the United Nations, and you decide where your share goes.
