This is a small upright box for your lipsticks. It has 18 square slots, three across and six high, and a clear front cover that closes over them, so you see every colour without the dust landing on it.

It measures 93 x 95 x 200 mm, about 9.3 cm wide and 20 cm tall, and the supplier makes it in ABS. We sell the pink version.

At a glance

The piece: an arched box with 18 slots

The shape is the first thing you notice. The top is rounded like an arched window, and the clear cover follows that curve. A small round knob in a rose-gold colour sits on the front, and you use it to swing the cover open.

Inside, the slots are square and open at the top, so a lipstick stands upright with its cap up. The supplier says it holds up to 18 lipsticks or items of a similar size. There is no brand on it and none in the supplier data, so we sell it as "No brand".

Who it's for

For you if your lipsticks live in a drawer, a bag and three coat pockets, and you never find the one you want. It suits a small dressing table or a bathroom shelf, because it stands tall and takes little floor space.

It is also a sweet gift for a friend who collects lipsticks, especially if you put one new colour in it.

Material and build: ABS with a clear cover

The supplier lists ABS as the material and calls it transparent. In the photos the cover is clear and the body of this version is pink, so you see the lipsticks through the front only. The knob looks rose-gold in colour; the supplier gives no separate material for it, so we don't name one.

The supplier gives no weight. A box this size in ABS is light, which is handy when you move it but also means it can tip if you pull the cover hard with a full box.

Size: which lipsticks fit

The outside measures 93 x 95 x 200 mm. That is roughly the footprint of a coffee cup and the height of a paperback held upright.

The supplier's own graphic is clear about fit: regular-height lipsticks go in, long-tube lip glaze does not. So bullet lipsticks and most balms work, and a tall lip gloss wand will stick out or not fit at all. The supplier gives no inner slot size, so if you own an unusually wide lipstick, measure it and ask us first.

On the dressing table

Sort by colour, from nude at the top to red at the bottom, and the front turns into a small colour chart. Next to a round mirror and a vase with one flower, as in the supplier photos, the pink box fits a soft, romantic table.

Good moments to give it

A birthday, Sinterklaas or a housewarming for someone who has just got her own bathroom. It is also a small reward to yourself on the day you finally clear out that drawer.

Care: a soft cloth

The supplier gives no care instructions. As general practice for a clear cover, wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth and skip scouring sponges, which leave fine scratches. Take the lipsticks out before you clean the slots.
