This viscose V-neck blouse by Sublevel is the kind of top you reach for without thinking. It is 100% viscose, plain, with short sleeves and a V-neck that has a small pleat at its point. The cut is loose and the hem is rounded.

There are four colours, black, taupe, white and green, in sizes S to XXL. The maker gives a chest of 82 cm in S and 100 cm in XXL.

The photos show how it is put together. The V ends in a small stitched pleat, which gives the front a little room. The sleeves are short and loose. The hem curves, and it is longer at the back than at the front. A seam runs down the middle of the back.

On colour: the supplier lists the taupe as beige. In the photos it is a light grey-beige, and the green is a soft sage.

Who it's for

For you if you want a top that is neater than a t-shirt and less fuss than a buttoned shirt. There is nothing to close and no collar to press into shape.

It also suits you if you prefer tops that skim the body. The fabric hangs from the shoulders and the longer back covers the waistband when you bend or sit.

Fabric and feel: 100% viscose

The blouse is 100% viscose, with nothing blended in. The supplier describes the fabric as soft and breathable and suggests it for warmer days. In the photos it is thin and fluid, and it moves when the model does.

A fabric this light can show what is under it. In the photos of the white blouse you do not see through it on the model, but we would still pick a skin-tone bra for white.

Fit and silhouette: loose, with a longer back

The maker's table gives one measurement, the chest: 82 cm in S, 86 cm in M, 91 cm in L, 96 cm in XL and 100 cm in XXL. It does not give a length, and it does not say how the chest was measured.

On the model the blouse is clearly roomy, so those numbers read like body measurements to us, but we can't confirm that. If you are between two sizes, the loose cut means either will work. Take the smaller one for a neater line and the larger one if you like it airy.

Styling: jeans, or a matching pair of trousers

The photos show two directions. The taupe and the white blouse are worn loose over light blue jeans. The black and the green are paired with wide trousers in the same colour, which turns a simple top into a set. Those trousers are not part of this page.

The supplier mentions skirts as well. With a midi skirt, tuck in the front and let the longer back hang. Under a blazer the V-neck sits neatly between the lapels.

When to wear it

The supplier calls it a base for everyday outfits. Wear it to work, on holiday, to lunch with a friend or on a hot day when a fitted top feels like too much.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data has no care instructions, so go by the label sewn into the blouse.

Viscose in general is at its weakest when wet. A gentle wash, no wringing and drying on a hanger are sensible habits, and a quick press or steam brings back the smooth surface.

The wow detail: the pleat under the V

It is easy to miss. At the point of the neckline the fabric is folded into one small pleat and stitched down. From there it opens up over the bust. That single fold is why the front hangs in a soft line and does not pull flat across the chest.
