These balloon trousers by Nife are roomy where you want room and narrow where it looks neat. The waist sits high, the leg is wide over the hip and thigh, and then it tapers towards the ankle. Front pleats and a pressed crease keep the shape tailored.
They close with a zip and one button and have belt loops. The fabric is 75% polyester, 23% viscose and 2% spandex. Sizes run from 36 to 42 in three colours.

The piece: three colours, one cut
Nife describes these as oversized, high-waisted trousers whose legs taper gradually in a balloon style. The supplier lists a zip, one button, belt loops and large square pockets at the front. Each colour has its own model number, with the same size table.
The colour names deserve a note. The supplier calls the three versions navy blue, red and blue. In the photos the first is a dark teal, the red is a deep burgundy and the blue is what most of us would call navy. We sell the first as dark teal for that reason.
From the back the trousers are plain, shaped with darts.
Who they're for
For you if slim trousers feel tight around the thigh and wide-leg trousers feel like too much fabric. The balloon cut sits in between. It gives your hips space and still shows your ankle.
They also suit an office wardrobe that needs colour. Burgundy or dark teal trousers with a plain top are an outfit in two pieces.

Fabric and feel: suiting cloth with 2% spandex
The composition is 75% polyester, 23% viscose and 2% spandex, a blend often used for tailored trousers. In the photos the cloth is matte and smooth, and it holds the crease down the front of the leg.
The small share of spandex gives a little ease when you sit. The supplier gives no fabric weight and does not mention a lining.
Fit and silhouette: roomy hip, narrow ankle
The maker's table shows how the cut works. In size 38 the waist width is 75.5 cm and the hips width is 110 cm, a large difference that is typical for this shape. The length barely changes between sizes, from 99 cm in 36 to 100.5 cm in 42.
Choose by your waist. The hips have room to spare in every size, and the high waistband has to sit closed without pulling. On the model the hem ends above the ankle, so on a shorter leg it will reach the ankle bone.

Styling: tuck your top in
Every photo shows the top tucked in, and for good reason. The high waist and the pleats are the point of these trousers, and a long top would hide both.
The model wears a ruffled blouse with the burgundy pair and a short sweatshirt with the others, always with pointed pumps. Loafers or white trainers work too, since the cropped hem leaves the shoe in full view. Add a belt through the loops if you want to mark the waist more.
When to wear them
These are trousers for work and for the dinner after work. With pumps and a blouse they suit a meeting. With trainers and a knit they are relaxed enough for the weekend.
Care: follow the label
The maker's data has no care instructions, so go by the label sewn into the trousers.
To keep the crease, hang the trousers by the hem or folded along the crease over a hanger bar.
The wow detail: the curve of the leg
Seen from the side, the leg draws a soft curve. It swells out below the pleats and comes back in at the ankle. That curve is what the name balloon refers to, and it is why these trousers look good with a heel: the narrow hem lands right above the shoe.
