You slide your feet into these mule slippers by Step in Style without bending down. The toe is closed, the heel is open, and a thick cream cuff folds over the edge of the black upper.

The upper is a soft imitation suede. The inside is lined, and the sole is 2.5 cm high. They come in three double sizes, from 36/37 to 40/41.

One point needs plain words. The supplier's attribute list gives the lining and the footbed as fur and does not say whether that is real fur or imitation. We do not know, so we do not guess. If it matters to you, and it may well, ask us before you order and we will put the question to the supplier.

Who they're for

For you if you have cold floors and no patience for slippers with a back. A mule slides on while you hold a cup of tea in one hand and your phone in the other.

They are a house shoe. The supplier describes them for relaxing at home and says nothing about wearing them outside.

Materials and build: suede look outside, fluffy inside

The maker lists the upper as imitation leather suede, a textile made to look and feel like suede. It is not animal hide.

For the lining and the footbed the attribute list says fur. The supplier calls the slippers insulated and the insole soft. As said above, whether that fur is real or imitation is not stated, and the sole material is not given either.

Size and dimensions: three double sizes

Each size covers two shoe sizes. The maker gives the insole length: 23.5 cm for 36/37, 25 cm for 38/39 and 26 cm for 40/41.

Measure your foot and compare. With an open heel a slipper is forgiving in length, but a thick lining takes up room at first. If your foot is as long as the insole or longer, go up a size. If you are a true 41, check the 26 cm against your foot before you order.

Styling: yes, even slippers

Black and cream go with most loungewear. Grey joggers, a cream knit set, striped pyjamas, a long cardigan over leggings. In the photos they are worn barefoot with an ankle chain, which tells you the look the maker had in mind: relaxed and a bit dressed.
