Description
A short skirt in cotton knit, gathered at the sides
This short skirt from Infinite You is cut close to the body and gathered along both side seams. The gathers pull the knit into soft horizontal folds, so a plain tube of fabric gets some shape of its own.
It is 40 cm long in size S and 41.5 cm in XL, which puts the hem at mid-thigh on the model. The fabric is 98% cotton with 2% Lycra. You can pick black, beige or green.

The piece: one skirt, three colours
Infinite You lists this skirt as three models, one per colour: 181229 in black, 181230 in beige and 181231 in green. The cut, the fabric and the size table are the same for all three. The supplier says it was designed and sewn in Poland.
One thing to know before you look at the photos. The model wears the skirt with a matching short-sleeved top in the same colour, and together they look like a dress. The top is a separate product (the supplier calls it blouse M310). This page sells the skirt on its own.
Our colour button for the beige says "Taupe". The maker calls it beige, and in the photos it is a warm, camel-like beige.
Who it's for
For you if you like a skirt that stays put. A close knit skirt moves with you and does not swing or ride around, which makes it easy on a bike or at a desk.
It also suits you if you find a smooth bodycon skirt a bit unforgiving. The folds across the front break up the surface, and I think that is the reason to choose this one over a plain mini.
Closer look: what the maker states and what the photos show
- Tight skirt in soft knit fabric (maker's data)
- Gathered sides (maker's data), visible as folds across front and back (photos)
- Hem at mid-thigh on the model (photos); 40 to 41.5 cm long (size table)
- No zip, buttons or pockets visible (photos)
- Three colours: black, beige and green (maker's data)
The maker does not describe the waistband. With this much stretch and no visible closure it looks like a pull-on skirt, but we cannot confirm how the waist is finished.
Fabric and feel: cotton knit with a little Lycra
The composition is 98% cotton and 2% Lycra. The maker calls it a soft knit, which is jersey-type fabric rather than a woven cloth. Cotton knit feels like a good T-shirt against the skin, and the Lycra helps it spring back after you sit.
In the photos the fabric is matte in all three colours. It looks like a medium weight: the folds hold their shape and the black is not see-through on the model. The supplier gives no fabric weight, so that is our reading of the pictures and nothing more.
Fit and silhouette: close, with room in the stretch
The size table gives ranges instead of single numbers. Size M, for example, covers hips of 88 to 94 cm and a waist of 70 to 78 cm. That is the knit stretching, and it means most people will find themselves inside one size without much doubt.
Length barely changes: 40 cm in S, half a centimetre more with each size up. If you are tall, expect the hem to sit higher than on the model. If you fall between two sizes and want the folds to stay soft, take the larger one. The smaller one will pull the gathers smooth.
Size chart (cm)
| Size | Length | Hips | Waist |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | 40 | 84-90 | 66-74 |
| M | 40.5 | 88-94 | 70-78 |
| L | 41 | 92-98 | 74-82 |
| XL | 41.5 | 96-102 | 78-86 |
Source: the maker's size table, the same for all three colours. The ranges for hips and waist show how far the knit stretches.
Styling: with the matching top or against it
The photos show the tone-on-tone route: same colour on top, block-heel sandals with ankle ties. It reads as a dress and it works.
I would also wear the black with a loose white shirt, half tucked, and flat loafers. The green wants something calm next to it, like a cream knit or a jeans jacket. The beige is the easy one. Try it with a striped long-sleeve and white trainers on a Saturday, or with a black blazer when you need to look a little sharper.
In colder months, opaque tights and ankle boots keep a 40 cm skirt wearable.
Occasions
This is an everyday skirt that can go out in the evening. Wear it to drinks after work, a birthday, a dinner date, or a city day with a lot of walking. With the right top it also fits a relaxed office.
It is short. For a formal workplace or a ceremony, a 40 cm hem will feel like too little, and a midi skirt is the safer choice.
Care: follow the label
The maker's data has no care instructions, so go by the label sewn into the skirt. We prefer to say that than to guess a temperature.
Two habits that suit most cotton knits: wash dark and bright colours with similar colours the first few times, and dry the skirt flat or on a line so the gathered seams keep their shape.
The wow detail: folds that come from the seam
Look at the side seams in the photos. All the texture of this skirt starts there. The fabric is gathered into the seam, and from that one line the folds run across the hips and fade towards the middle. Nothing is printed or stitched on. It is a small piece of pattern-making, and it is why the green version looks so good in a close-up.
