A 3-piece loungewear set you can wear outside

STACY by LaBalancia is a 3-piece loungewear set: a loose zip hoodie, a short crop top and high-waisted leggings, all three in the same colour. The fabric is 95% cotton with 5% spandex.

Right now the set is available in graphite grey and in black, in two double sizes, XS/S and M/L. The beige set in the photos is no longer supplied.

The piece: three parts in one colour

LaBalancia sells STACY as one set per colour. The maker's texts name the three pieces a little differently from colour to colour. One says hoodie, top and leggings; the others say blouse, top and leggings. The photos settle it: the long piece is a hooded jacket with a zip down the front.

Under it you wear the crop top, which has short sleeves and a round neck and stops above the waist. The leggings reach the ankle and have a high waistband that dips into a V at the front.

Only two colours are active at the supplier: graphite grey (model 216552) and black (model 216554). For black the supplier currently lists only size M/L.

Who it's for

For you if you want to get dressed in one go. Three pieces that match, so there is nothing to think about at seven in the morning.

It suits you if you like a fitted base with something loose over it. The top and leggings follow the body. The hoodie measures 136 cm around the chest in both sizes, so it hangs wide and covers the hips.

Closer look: what the maker's data and the photos show

We could not see pockets on the leggings. The hoodie appears to have side pockets, since the model has a hand in one in the first photo, but the maker does not list them.

Fabric and feel: cotton with 5% spandex

The size table gives 95% cotton and 5% spandex; the maker's text says the same with the word elastane. The maker describes the fabric as soft to the touch and flexible.

That is a familiar mix for leggings and fitted tops. The cotton makes it feel like a T-shirt on the skin, and the spandex lets the leggings stretch from a waist of 50 cm to 82 cm in M/L. One composition is given for the whole set, hoodie included.

Fit and silhouette: two sizes, a lot of stretch

The maker's size table packs three numbers into each cell, one per piece. Split out, it reads like this. The hoodie is 73 cm long and 136 cm around the chest in both sizes. The top is 41 cm long, with a chest that stretches from 64 to 92 cm in XS/S and from 68 to 100 cm in M/L.

The leggings are 100 cm long in XS/S and 101 cm in M/L. Their waist goes from 48 to 78 cm in the smaller size and from 50 to 82 cm in the larger one. The difference between the two sizes is small, so if you are in doubt, your chest measurement is the better guide.

Styling: as a set, or pulled apart

In the photos the set is worn all together, with trainers and a baseball cap, hoodie open. That is the easy way, and it works for a coffee run or a travel day.

The pieces also work on their own. Wear the leggings and top to a yoga class and keep the hoodie for the way home. Or put the hoodie over jeans and a white T-shirt. In black, the crop top goes under a blazer with high-waisted trousers.

Occasions

The maker made STACY for everyday wear. Think of working from home, a Sunday walk, a flight, the school run, an easy evening on the sofa. It is casual by nature, and we would keep it for casual days.

Care: follow the labels

The maker's data has no care instructions, so follow the labels sewn into the three pieces.

If you want the colours to stay the same across the set, wash the three pieces together each time. A black top washed twice as often as its hoodie will stop matching it.

The wow detail: the V in the waistband

Look at the photos where the hoodie is pushed back. The waistband of the leggings does not run straight across. It dips into a V below the navel, and the crop top stops just above it. It is a small cut, and it is what keeps the set from looking like ordinary gym wear.
