This two-piece set is a long white shirt and a pair of wide-leg trousers in the same fabric: 70% cotton and 30% linen. Both pieces are cut roomy, so air moves through them when you walk.

NM makes it in one size, S/M. The trousers have a high elastic waist and side pockets, and the shirt buttons up to a classic collar.

The set comes from NM and is sold through a fashion wholesaler in Poland. The maker describes two pieces: a shirt with a longer cut, a classic collar and long sleeves, and high-waisted trousers with wide legs.

We want to be clear about the photos. The first three show a beige version worn open over a crochet bralette with rosettes. That beige is no longer available, and the bralette is styling. It is not part of what the supplier ships. What you order here is the white set: shirt and trousers.

There is one size, and it is generous: the maker lists a chest of 118 cm on the shirt and a waistband that stretches from 66 to 112 cm.

In the back view the white fabric lets some light through. Skin-coloured underwear is the safe choice under white.

Fabric and feel: more cotton than linen

The composition is 70% cotton and 30% linen. So this is a cotton set with linen in it, and we say that plainly because many shops would simply call it linen. The maker describes the blend as breathable and light.

Linen gives a fabric its dry, slightly crisp hand and its creases. Cotton softens both. Expect a set that creases when you sit, though less than pure linen would, and that looks right with those creases.

Fit and silhouette: loose from shoulder to hem

Nothing on this set is fitted. The shirt hangs straight from dropped shoulders to below the hips, and the trousers fall wide from the waistband to the floor.

The maker's table gives a chest of 118 cm and a waist of 66-112 cm, which is the elastic at rest and at full stretch. The hips cell lists 120/106 cm without saying which number is the shirt and which the trousers. The length is unreadable in the data we get, so we can't quote it. On the model the trousers reach the instep with a heel. If you are much shorter than average, plan on a hem.

Styling: buttoned up or open

The white photos show the set at its neatest: shirt buttoned, worn loose over the trousers, with pointed white pumps. It looks like a relaxed suit.

The beige photos show the holiday version, with the shirt open over a small top and flat raffia sandals. Both ideas carry over to the white set. You can also split it: the shirt over a swimsuit on the beach, the trousers with a striped T-shirt in town.

Occasions

The maker calls it a set for everyday styling. We think of warm days first: a holiday, a lunch on a terrace, a summer evening by the water. In white it also works for a relaxed beach wedding, as long as you are not upstaging the bride.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data has no care instructions, so go by the labels sewn into the shirt and the trousers. A general habit for cotton and linen blends: shake the pieces out while damp and hang them to dry, and most creases drop out by themselves.

The wow detail: pockets in a wide trouser

Side pockets sound ordinary until you wear wide trousers without them. Here you can put your hands in, and the whole outfit relaxes. The first photo shows it: hands in pockets, shirt pushed back, and the set looks like it has always been yours.
