An openwork sleeveless knit tank for warm days

This openwork sleeveless knit tank has a round neck, bare shoulders and a panel of open stitches across the upper chest. The same open stitch comes back as a band at the hem. The rest is plain knit.

It is 100% viscose and slightly stretchy, in tan, black or white, sizes S to XL.

The piece: cut-in shoulders, open yoke

The top is sold under the label Bold & Beyond. The armholes are cut in towards the neck, the way a halter top is, but the back is full and the top stays on without ties.

On the chest the openwork runs in vertical lines of small holes, down to a straight edge above the bust. The back is plain. At the hem a band of open stitches closes it off at front and back.

Who it's for

For you if you want something lighter than a t-shirt that still looks finished. The cut shows the shoulders, so it suits anyone who likes that. The body skims and does not cling.

Fabric and feel: viscose knit

The yarn is 100% viscose, a fibre made from cellulose. The supplier calls the knit slightly stretchy. In the photos it looks smooth with a soft drape.

The openwork on the chest shows skin through the holes. In white the plain part may be a little sheer as well; the supplier does not say.

Fit and silhouette: close at the bust, easy below

The bust measures 86.1 cm in S, 89.9 cm in M, 96 cm in L and 102.1 cm in XL. The length goes from 55.9 to 58.9 cm, and in the photos the hem lands at the hip.

With slight stretch and a bust figure this close to body size, the fit follows you. If you are between sizes or want it looser, take the larger one.

Styling: shorts now, a blazer later

The photos show all three colours with pale jeans shorts. That is the summer version. Tucked into wide trousers under a blazer, the same top goes to the office in September.

The cut-in shoulders need a strapless or halter bra, or one with straps that sit close to the neck.

Wear it on holiday, on a terrace, to a summer dinner, or as a layer under a jacket when the weather turns.

Care: machine wash cold

The supplier's instruction is machine wash cold, tumble dry low. Viscose knits can stretch when they hang wet, so drying flat is the gentler option if the sewn-in label allows it.

The wow detail: the yoke of small holes

The open stitches fan out from the neckband like the bars of a collar and stop in a straight line. It reads as a necklace knitted into the top. You can leave your jewellery at home, or add one thin chain as the photos do.
