This notched long sleeve sweater is a relaxed knit with three small details: a split in the round neck, a pocket on the chest and slits at the sides of the hem. The waffle texture gives it body.

It is 100% acrylic, slightly stretchy, and comes in six colours and five sizes, S to 2XL.

The sweater is sold under the label Big Mind. The supplier files it as a basic style and names the notch in the title. The origin is "imported"; no country is given.

Our old page called this a sweater with a collar. It has none. The neck is round with a ribbed band, cut open at the front in a short V. We have corrected that.

Who it's for

For you if you want a jumper to pull on over jeans without thinking. The notch lets a necklace show, and the longer back covers your hips when you sit.

It is cut wide. Size M measures 109 cm at the bust, so there is room for a shirt underneath.

Fabric and feel: acrylic with a waffle texture

The yarn is 100% acrylic. There is no animal fibre in it. The supplier calls the knit slightly stretchy.

In the photos the stitch forms small raised squares, like a waffle. That texture makes the sweater look thicker than a flat knit; the supplier gives no weight.

Fit and silhouette: wide, longer at the back

Size S has a front length of 61.5 cm, a bust of 104.9 cm and a sleeve of 52.6 cm. Size XL measures 67.3 cm, 116.8 cm and 55.4 cm. The supplier gives these in inches; we converted them.

Note that the length is the front. The back hangs lower, as the photos show, but the supplier gives no figure for it. The sleeve is measured from a dropped shoulder, so it reads short on paper.

Styling: half tucked into dark jeans

Every photo shows the sweater with dark jeans and the front tucked in on one side. The side slits make that easy. A pendant in the notch finishes the neckline.

Tan, light grey and charcoal are the quiet colours. Dusty pink and pastel blue lift a grey day.

Occasions

Working from home, a walk in the woods, a casual office, a Sunday on the sofa. It is an everyday jumper and happy to be one.

Care: cold wash, low dryer

The supplier's instructions: machine wash cold, tumble dry low. Our own tip for chunky knits is to dry them flat, so the weight of the wet yarn does not pull the sweater longer.

The wow detail: the notch

A crew neck can feel closed, and a V-neck can feel bare. The notch is the middle way: a round neck with one short cut at the front. It opens the neckline just enough for a necklace and keeps the warmth of a round collar band.
