Description
A loose mohair and wool blend jumper with a crew neck
This is a roomy mohair and wool blend jumper from Awama with a crew neck and a soft, fuzzy surface. The yarn is a blend: 40% acrylic, 22% wool, 22% polyamide and 16% mohair. The supplier says it was knitted in a local knitting factory in Poland.
It comes in two sizes, S/M and L/XL, and both are 60 cm long. There are four colours: three browns and a dark green.

The piece: one shape, four colours
Awama files this jumper under four model numbers, 220849 to 220852, one per colour. The descriptions are the same for all four: a women's sweater with long sleeves, made with wool and kid mohair, in what the maker calls a minimalist style.
The supplier's colour names are short. Three models are simply 'brown' and one is 'green'. The photos show more: a grey-brown, a dark chocolate brown, a lighter brown with a hint of taupe, and a deep bottle green. On our colour buttons the grey-brown is called 'Gray', the dark brown 'brown 2' and the light brown 'brown 3'.
The maker describes the jumper as warm and light. It weighs 450 grams according to the supplier, which is modest for a jumper this wide.
Who it's for
For you if you want one jumper that goes over everything from October on, and you like the hairy look of mohair without paying for a pure mohair knit. With 16% mohair and 22% wool this is a blend, and we say so plainly.
It suits you if you like room. The chest measures 110 cm in S/M and 124 cm in L/XL, so even the smaller size is wide. If wool or mohair makes your skin itch, wear a thin long-sleeved top underneath.
Closer look: what the photos and the maker's data show
- Blend of acrylic, wool, polyamide and mohair (maker's data)
- Long sleeves (maker's data)
- Round crew neck with a narrow ribbed band (photos)
- Dropped shoulders and wide sleeves that gather into ribbed cuffs (photos)
- Ribbed hem that sits at the hip on the model (photos)
- Fuzzy, slightly mottled knit surface (photos)
- Total length 60 cm in both sizes (size table)
- Knitted in Poland (supplier's statement)
The photos show no pockets, buttons or zip. It is a plain pullover.
Fabric and feel: a blend with 22% wool and 16% mohair
The maker gives the composition as 40% acrylic, 22% wool, 22% polyamide and 16% mohair. So a little over a third of the yarn is animal fibre and the rest is synthetic. The description mentions kid mohair, the finer hair of young goats.
Mohair is what gives the knit its halo, the fine hairs you see standing off the surface in the photos. The maker calls the result warm and light. We have not weighed that claim ourselves, but the 450 grams on the supplier's sheet supports the 'light' part.
Fit and silhouette: wide, with a short body
Both sizes are 60 cm long. The difference is in the width: a chest of 110 cm in S/M and 124 cm in L/XL. On the model the hem lands at the hip and the shoulder seam sits well down the upper arm.
Pick by how much room you like. If you usually wear S or M, the S/M already gives you an oversized look. Take the L/XL if you normally wear L or XL, or if you want the jumper very wide.
Size chart (cm)
| Size | Total length | Chest |
|---|---|---|
| S/M | 60 | 110 |
| L/XL | 60 | 124 |

Styling: let the trousers set the tone
The photos give three good ideas. The grey-brown one is worn with wide grey trousers, tone on tone. The dark brown and the green go with beige pleated trousers, and the light brown with pale blue jeans.
Because the body is short and wide, it works well with a high waist. Tuck a corner of the hem into your waistband if you want to show it. Over a slip skirt it also looks good, with boots underneath.
Occasions
This is an everyday jumper for the cold half of the year. Wear it to the office with tailored trousers, on a Sunday walk under a coat with enough room in the sleeves, or at home on the sofa.
The dark green is the one we would pick for December dinners at home. The browns are easier on a normal working day.
Care: follow the label
The maker's data has no care instructions, so go by the label sewn into the jumper.
A few habits help with any knit that contains mohair. Air it between wears so you wash it less often. Dry it flat on a towel so it keeps its shape, and store it folded, because a hanger stretches the shoulders.
The wow detail: the halo
Look at the edge of the sleeve in the side views. You can see the fine hairs catch the light around the outline of the jumper. That soft edge is what mohair does, and it is why the colours look deep and a little smoky instead of flat.
