The supplier describes a polished, smooth pendant in the shape of a classic envelope with a folded flap, on a delicate cable chain that matches. In the photos the envelope opens and holds a flat card, like a letter in miniature.

About the name: this product used to be listed here as gold plated. The supplier facts only speak of gold, rose gold and silver finishes and do not name the metal or the plating, so we now call them tones.

Who it's for

For someone you want to say something to. A partner, your mother, a daughter leaving home, a friend far away. The "Love you" card says it for you. The blank card is for people who like to keep the meaning to themselves.

Materials and finish

The supplier names three finishes and a polished surface, and stops there. The base metal is not given, and neither is the kind of plating. If you react to some metals, ask us before you order, and we will try to get an answer from the supplier.

Size and length

The supplier says the necklace is designed to sit at the collarbone, but gives no chain length and no pendant size. In the photos the pendant is small against the chain, a few links wide. Ask us if you need the exact length, for example to layer it with another necklace.

Styling: close to the skin

A small pendant like this looks good in an open collar or over a plain crew-neck top. Match the tone to the jewellery you already wear: silver tone with a silver-coloured watch, gold or rose gold tone with warmer pieces. It layers well with a longer, plain chain.

Occasions

Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, an anniversary, a goodbye at the airport. It is a small present with a clear message, and it fits in an ordinary envelope of its own.

Care

The supplier gives no care instructions. As a habit with jewellery in a colour finish: take it off before showering or swimming, keep perfume and lotion away from it, and store it dry. Open the flap gently; small hinges don't like force.
