The piece: chain, bar and drop
The supplier's name for it is plain: 925 Sterling Silver Y-Shaped Pendant Necklace. In the photos you see how the Y is made. The two ends of the chain run through a small slanted bar, and below the bar one strand carries the drop.
The drop is polished and has no stones. It catches the light as a single bright point, and that restraint is what we like about it. The gold-coloured and the silver-coloured version have the same shape.
Who it's for
For you if you wear V-necks, open collars or a blazer over a camisole, and you want something that follows that line down. A Y-necklace draws a vertical line, so it works well with necklines that are open at the front.
It is also an easy present. It arrives in a box, it has one size, and you only need to know whether she wears silver or gold tones.

Materials: the supplier's statement
According to the supplier: 18K gold-plated, 925 sterling silver. We read that as sterling silver for the silver-coloured version and the same necklace with a layer of 18K gold on top for the gold-coloured version. We have no hallmark or certificate on file for this piece, so take it as the supplier's statement. The supplier does not say how thick that layer is, so we make no promise about how long it keeps its colour.
925 means that 925 parts in a thousand are silver. Sterling silver can darken over time when it meets air and moisture, and a soft polishing cloth usually brings the shine back.
Size and length: one size, 45 cm chain plus extension
The necklace comes in one size. The supplier gives a chain length of 45 cm and an extension chain of 5.1 cm, both converted by us from inches, so you can wear it a little longer. It gives no pendant size, and we will not guess one.
What the photos show is this: on the model the bar sits a little below the collarbones and the drop hangs at the top of a V-neckline. The photos do not show the clasp itself.

Styling: let the neckline do the work
In the photos it is worn on bare skin with a black V-neck top and a black blazer. That is the easy way to wear it: a dark, open neckline and nothing else around the neck.
On a fine knit it works too, as long as the knit is plain. We would skip a second necklace. The Y shape already has two levels, the bar and the drop, and a second chain tends to tangle with it.
Occasions
Wear it to work under a blazer, to a dinner with an open shirt, or to a wedding with a V-neck dress. Because it is small and quiet it also suits every day. As a gift it fits a birthday or a graduation, and the box saves you the wrapping problem.
Care: the supplier gives no instructions
