An open-knit jumper in a diamond pattern, one size

This open-knit jumper is knitted in a pattern of diamonds with small openings between them, so it is see-through by design. It has a wide round neck, dropped shoulders and long sleeves, and in the photos it is worn over a top.

The yarn is a blend: 44.2% lyocell, 23.5% wool, 22.3% acrylic and 10% alpaca, as declared by the supplier. It comes in one size, 66 cm long and 104 cm around the chest, in grey fleck or oatmeal fleck.

The piece: a loose layer in flecked yarn

In the photos the yarn is flecked. Small dark and pale specks sit on a grey or oatmeal ground, which gives the knit some depth up close. The diamond pattern runs over the body and the sleeves alike.

We sell it without a brand, because the supplier data names no maker. One thing to know before you choose a colour: the grey version is shown on a model in six photos, while the oatmeal version has a single photo, laid flat. For oatmeal you have less to go on.

Who it's for

For you if you like to dress in layers. This jumper needs something underneath, a camisole, a tee or a slip dress, and that is part of its charm.

It comes in one size. The supplier suggests it for a body weight of about 45 to 67.5 kg, but weight says little about shape. The measurements in the table tell you more.

Fabric and feel: lyocell with wool, acrylic and alpaca

The supplier declares the composition as 44.2% lyocell, 23.5% wool, 22.3% acrylic, 10% alpaca. The four shares add up to 100%. We have no photo of a sewn-in label, so we pass the figures on as the supplier's declaration.

Wool and alpaca are animal fibres. If your skin reacts to wool, keep that in mind, although the top you wear underneath covers most of your skin anyway. We have not handled this jumper ourselves, so we will not tell you how it feels.

Fit and silhouette: one size, cut wide

The jumper is 66 cm long and measures 52 cm across the chest when laid flat, which is 104 cm around. The shoulder is 48 cm wide and the sleeve 58 cm long. The supplier asks you to allow about 3 cm difference.

A 48 cm shoulder is wide, and on the model the shoulder seam sits below the shoulder while the hem reaches the hip. The easiest check is to lay a jumper you like flat and compare its chest width with 52 cm.

Styling: choose what shows through

In the photos the grey jumper is worn with a dark grey draped skirt and a long pendant necklace. The quiet colours let the diamond pattern do the talking.

The layer underneath decides the look. A top close to your skin tone keeps it soft. A black or bright top turns every opening into a small window of colour. We like both.

Occasions

Wear it to the office over a plain top, or at the weekend over a slip dress. It also works as the extra layer you bring to a dinner when a coat is too much and bare arms are too little.

Care: cold hand wash, dry flat

The supplier's instructions: wash by hand in cold water or have it dry cleaned, do not tumble dry, and dry it flat. Check the sewn-in label when it arrives and follow that if it asks for more care.

Our own tip, since this is an open knit: take off rings and bracelets before you pull it on, because the openings catch easily.

Because the knit is open, the jumper changes with whatever you put under it. Over white it reads light and summery. Over black the diamonds stand out sharply. You get a different jumper each time without buying a second one.
