This cotton shirt dress by Moe borrows everything from a good shirt: the collar, the row of buttons down the front, the cuffs. Then it keeps going to the knee and adds a belt.
The fabric is 76% cotton and the dress has no lining, which the maker sums up as light and airy. It comes in pink, blue and grey, in sizes S to XXL, and it was designed and made in Poland.

The piece: three colours, one pattern
Moe is a Polish label. Behind this page are three model numbers, one per colour: 199664 is pink, 199665 is blue and 199666 is grey. We read the supplier's description of each, and they describe the same dress with the same size table.
The colours look stronger in the photos than their names suggest. The pink is a bright fuchsia. The blue is a mid jeans blue, and the grey is a dark charcoal that comes close to black. Each one is shown with a narrow brown belt.
The front buttons all the way down, so you can put it on feet first or over your head, whichever you prefer.
Who it's for
For you if you want a dress that behaves like a shirt. It covers the arms and the knee, it has a collar, and it still feels light because it is unlined cotton.
The size range is wide: the chest runs from 90 cm in S to 110 cm in XXL, with 5 cm between sizes. And because the belt decides where the waist sits, the dress adapts to your proportions rather than the other way round.

The belt in the photos is a narrow brown one, worn with the ends hanging down. The supplier does not say what it is made of.
Fabric and feel: mostly cotton, no lining
The composition is 76% cotton, 21% polyester and 3% spandex. Cotton does most of the work, and the small share of spandex gives the fabric a little stretch where a shirt dress needs it: across the back and at the elbows.
The maker calls the dress light and airy and points out that it has no lining. In practice that means one layer of fabric between you and the air. In the photos the cloth holds its shape at the collar and the cuffs and falls straight from the belt to the hem. With the fuchsia version it is wise to wear skin-tone underwear, as with any unlined dress in a single layer.
Fit and silhouette: straight, with a waist you set yourself
The table below comes straight from the maker and is the same for all three colours. Size M has a chest of 95 cm, a waist of 79 cm and hips of 103 cm. Every size up adds 5 cm to each of those and 1 cm to the length, which goes from 109 cm in S to 113 cm in XXL.
On the model the hem lands just below the knee. If you are shorter than she is, expect it to reach the top of your calf. Pull the belt tight for a clear waist, or leave it off and wear the dress as a straight shirt. When you are between sizes, check the hip measurement first: a buttoned front is less forgiving there than at the waist.

Styling: trainers on Monday, boots on Friday
The photos show two directions. The pink dress is worn with white trainers and bare legs, which makes it relaxed and a little sporty. The blue and the grey are worn with tan knee-high boots that disappear under the hem, a look that carries well into autumn.
You can also swap the belt. A wider belt in black gives the grey version an office feel, and a woven one loosens up the blue. Left open over a T-shirt and jeans, the dress works as a long shirt jacket. Roll the cuffs once if you want to show a watch or a bracelet.
Occasions
The supplier keeps it general and says the dress suits various occasions. We would be more specific. The grey and the blue are easy office dresses: collar, sleeves, knee covered. The pink is the one for a birthday, a spring lunch or a day when you want to be found in a crowd.
Long sleeves and a single layer of cotton make it a dress for spring and autumn, and for summer evenings when the sun has gone. In winter it needs tights and a cardigan or coat on top.
Care: follow the label
The maker's data we receive has no care instructions, so please go by the label sewn into the dress. We would rather say that than guess a temperature.
Two habits help with any shirt dress in a strong colour. Wash it with similar colours the first few times, and close the buttons before it goes into the machine so the placket keeps its shape. Take the belt off first.

Many shirt dresses end the sleeve with elastic or a single button. This one has a real cuff that closes with two buttons, the way a tailored shirt does. It sounds small. It is the thing that makes the sleeve sit flat at the wrist, and it lets you roll the sleeve neatly when the afternoon warms up.
