Flat sandals with a lot going on: braided straps, straps with small pyramid studs, three bands around the ankle and a closed heel. And yet you do not have to buckle anything. A zip at the back does the work.

For you if you like a sandal with a bit of edge and you want it to stay on. The closed heel and ankle straps hold the foot, which a slide does not. Sizes run from 35 to 43.

Materials and build: PU leather on rubber

The supplier states PU leather, which is faux leather with no animal hide in it, and rubber for the sole. What the studs and the zip are made of is not stated. The footbed looks lightly padded in the photos, but the supplier does not describe it, so we leave it at that.

Size and fit: true to size, says the supplier

The supplier advises your usual size. Foot lengths from the chart: 22.4 cm for 35, 23.4 cm for 37, 24.4 cm for 39, 25.4 cm for 41 and 26.4 cm for 43.

The ankle straps are fixed to the heel cup and the zip opens the back. The photos do not show a buckle for adjusting the straps, so if your ankles are much wider or narrower than average, keep the 14-day return in mind.

Styling: bare legs, loose fabrics

Sandals with ankle straps look right when the ankle is visible: under a midi dress, with shorts, or with trousers that stop above the ankle. The brown pair has a warm, tan look that suits white and cream; the black pair is sharper and takes black, grey and prints.

Care: no instructions from the supplier

The supplier gives no care instructions. Wiping the straps with a soft damp cloth and letting the sandals dry in the air is the usual approach for faux leather; general advice from us.
