These lace-up ankle boots by Step in Style have a matte artificial leather upper, a pile lining and a rubber sole. You lace them once to get the fit right and then use the zip on the inside.
The shaft is 10.5 cm high and the sole 2 cm. We sell them in two shades of beige.

The piece: models 219844 and 219845
The supplier lists both models as beige. In the photos one is a light sand colour and the other a darker camel, so look at the picture of the variant you choose.
The description is the same for all of them: an ankle boot with a zip and laces, rounded toes, a rubber sole and a small patch on the side. The supplier suggests them for winter walks and everyday outings.
One thing we cannot tell you is what the lining is made of. The supplier writes "soft fur" and leaves it there. It does not say real or imitation, and we will not guess.
Who it's for
For you if you walk a lot in winter and want a boot that looks like a hiking shoe without being one. The round toe leaves room for your toes, and the sole is flat.
If the origin of a lining matters to you, and for many people it does, ask us before you order. We will put the question to the supplier.
Closer look: what the maker's data and the photos show
- Artificial leather upper (maker's data), matte with a brushed look (photos)
- Zip and lacing (maker's data); the zip is on the inner side (photos)
- Lining and footbed listed as "fur", origin not stated (maker's data); a pale pile shows at the collar (photos)
- Rubber sole, 2 cm (maker's data); dark brown with a textured edge (photos)
- Small round patch on the outer side (maker's data and photos)
- Knitted collar in flecked brown and cream (photos)
- Metal D-rings and hooks, two-tone laces (photos)
Materials and build: artificial leather on a rubber sole
The upper is artificial leather. In the photos it has a matte, brushed surface. It looks soft, but the data says artificial leather, so that is the term we use.
The sole is rubber, and the supplier says it grips well on different surfaces. The lining is described as soft and is meant for cold weather. We make no promise about how warm the boots are, because nobody has given us a temperature rating.
Size and fit: room for the lining
The insole length runs from 23.5 cm in size 36 to 26 cm in size 41, in half-centimetre steps. A pile lining takes up space, so if your foot is right on the number for a size, the next one up will be more comfortable with a thick sock.
The shaft is 10.5 cm and closes around the ankle. Laces and hooks let you set the width over the instep.
Size chart (cm)
| Size | Insole length |
|---|---|
| 36 | 23.5 |
| 37 | 24 |
| 38 | 24.5 |
| 39 | 25 |
| 40 | 25.5 |
| 41 | 26 |
Source: the maker's size table, the same for both shades. Insole length is the inside length of the boot; a lined boot fits a little snugger than an unlined one.
Styling: brown tones and rolled hems
The photos show the boots with brown cropped trousers, cuffed at the ankle so the knitted collar stays in view. That is the right idea. Let the hem stop above the boot.
Beige boots like these go well with jeans in any wash, a chunky cardigan and a long coat. With leggings and an oversized jumper they are weekend shoes; with straight dark trousers they pass at a casual office.
Occasions
The supplier names winter walks and everyday outings. Think of the dog, the Christmas market, the school run on a frosty morning, a walk through the dunes followed by soup.
They are town and footpath boots. For real mountain trails you need proper hiking boots with a tested sole.
Care: brush, do not soak
We have no care text from the maker. For a matte artificial leather the common approach is a soft brush for dry dirt and a slightly damp cloth for marks.
Let lined boots dry at room temperature, with the zip open, before you wear them again.
The wow detail: the knitted collar
Around the ankle sits a band of flecked knit in brown and cream, like the cuff of a walking sock peeking out of a boot. It picks up the brown of the sole and the patch, and it is what turns a plain beige boot into one with some character.
