If you are looking for cotton joggers for women that are plain and soft, the Maio by Kalimo is that pair. They are made of a sweatshirt knit in 95% cotton and 5% spandex, the leg is straight and the pockets are finished with a thin line of piping.

There are four colours, each with its own model number: pink is 180083, black 180084, grey 180085 and beige 180086. In our colour menu the pink is called Peach. In the photos it is a pale powder pink, and the grey is a mottled mid-grey.

For you if your evenings and Sundays deserve better than old leggings. These are trousers for the sofa, the school run and the quick trip to the shop.

They suit you if you prefer cotton next to your skin. And with sizes from S to XXL, there is a good chance yours is there.

Fabric and feel: cotton sweatshirt knit

The fabric is the knit you know from a good sweatshirt: 95% cotton with 5% spandex. According to the maker, the spandex is there so the trousers keep their shape while you wear and wash them. Anyone who has owned joggers with baggy knees will understand why that matters.

The maker does not say whether the inside is brushed or smooth, and gives no fabric weight. In the photos the knit looks medium-weight and hangs straight.

Fit and sizes: S to XXL, no centimetres from the maker

The maker's size table names five sizes, S, M, L, XL and XXL, and leaves the hip and waist widths empty. So we cannot give you measurements, and we won't invent them.

The photos show a regular fit. The waistband sits on the hips, the seat and thighs have some ease, and the leg runs straight down to the foot. Because the waist is elastic and the fabric stretches, your usual size is the sensible starting point. If the trousers don't fit, you have 14 days from delivery to send them back.

Styling: at home and out of the door

In the photos the trousers are worn with the matching sweatshirt, tone on tone. You can get close to that look with any plain sweatshirt in a similar shade.

For outside, the straight leg helps. It looks tidier than a cuffed jogger, so the black pair with white trainers and a long coat is fine for town. The beige goes well with a white T-shirt and a jean jacket. The pink is the cosy one. Wear it with thick socks and a cream cardigan.

Occasions

The maker has free time in mind: these are for the hours when you want to focus on yourself. Think of working from home, a long train ride, a slow Sunday or the evening after sport.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data has no care instructions, so go by the label sewn into the trousers.

Cotton knits tend to like a cool wash and a washing line. Wash the dark colours inside out to keep them dark.

The wow detail: a line of piping

Joggers are rarely decorated, and these barely are. Only the pocket openings get a narrow line of piping. On the black pair it shows as a pale stripe along the pocket edge. It is a small sign that someone thought about these trousers for longer than strictly needed.
