These tights with line pattern by Livia Corsetti Fashion are sheer black, 20 DEN, with thin dark lines drawn over the legs. A vertical line runs up the back of each leg, and horizontal lines cross it at intervals.

Who they're for

For you if plain black tights bore you and fishnets are a step too far. A line pattern is graphic and still quiet enough for the office.

They are thin tights. At 20 DEN you get a sheer leg, good for dresses and skirts in spring, autumn and heated rooms. For real cold you need something thicker.

Materials and feel: polyamide with 10% spandex

The maker lists 90% polyamide and 10% spandex. That is a normal mix for tights, with a fair share of stretch fibre so the knit follows the leg and springs back.

Fit: choose by your hips

The maker's table gives a hips width per size: 88-93 cm for 2-S, 94-98 cm for 3-M and 99-104 cm for 4-L. It gives no height range, which most tights charts do have. If you are tall and between two sizes, the larger one is the safer pick, because tights that are too short pull down as you walk.

Styling: a short hem shows the lines

In the photos the tights are worn with a short black dress and black heels, which is what the supplier suggests too: a little black dress with stilettos, or ballerinas for a casual look.

The pattern needs leg to be seen. A skirt above the knee shows the rectangles; a midi skirt shows mainly the line up the calf, and that has its own charm. Keep the shoes simple.
