The photos show what an extended cut means here. The two front panels are rounded at the bottom and meet at the zip, a bit like tulip petals. The back panel hangs lower. The shoulders are dropped and the body is straight and loose.

Fabric and feel: cotton with stretch

The maker lists 90% cotton and 10% spandex. That is a high share of cotton for a sweatshirt, and the spandex gives it stretch. From the outside the fabric looks smooth and fairly thick in the photos, and it holds the rounded shape of the hem without drooping.

The data does not say whether the inside is brushed, or how heavy the fabric is. If you want to wear it as an outer layer in autumn, plan on a top or a thin jumper underneath.

Size and fit: two sizes, 102 cm long

There are two sizes, S/M and L/XL. The maker's size table gives a length of 102 cm for both. S/M has hips of 106 cm and a chest of 150 cm, L/XL hips of 110 cm and a chest of 158 cm. The table does not say whether these are garment or body measurements, but a chest of 150 cm can only be the garment, which matches the loose fit in the photos.

Lay a hoodie or cardigan you like flat, measure it across the chest and double the number, and compare. If you normally wear S or M, take S/M; L or XL, take L/XL. Between the two, the loose cut and the stretch make the smaller size the safer choice for most people. Returns are 14 days from delivery if it isn't right.

Styling: narrow legs, chunky shoes

Nearly every photo pairs it with slim trousers or leggings and a chunky sneaker or boot. That is the formula: long and loose on top, narrow below. Wide trousers under a hoodie this long tend to look like pyjamas.

Worn open over a white top it reads as a cardigan. Zipped up to the chin with the hood down it looks more like a sporty coat. In taupe or beige with white jeans it is surprisingly neat.

Occasions

This is weekend and after-work clothing. Think of the walk to the bakery, a long train ride, the touchline at a football match on Saturday morning, or the first chilly evening on a campsite.
