These white snow boots have a glossy upper with a pearl sheen, a thick platform sole of 5 cm and laces that run through metal rings. A zip on the inner side means you only have to tie them once.

Model 221368 reaches us through a fashion wholesaler in Poland under the brand name Solea. The maker's own text calls them the Jassi snow boots from the Gemre brand, so that is the name you may find on the box.

The maker describes white snow boots with a pearl glow, lined inside for warmth, on a sole designed for grip on slippery ground. We pass that on as the maker's description. We have not tested the grip ourselves.

The photos show the rest: a padded collar at the ankle, a strap across the top of the tongue and a deep tread under the platform.

Who they are for

For you if you want a winter boot that looks more like a chunky trainer than a hiking shoe. The platform adds 5 cm of height, and the white makes dark winter outfits lighter.

Materials and build: faux leather outside, "fur" inside

The maker lists the upper as artificial leather, in other words faux leather. In the photos it is smooth and glossy, with the pearl sheen the description mentions.

For the inside the maker uses the word fur: the interior is "lined with soft fur" and the footbed is listed as "fur". The data does not say whether that is real fur or an imitation pile. With a faux leather upper, imitation is the likely answer, but we cannot confirm it. If this matters to you, ask us before you order and we will check with the supplier.

Size and fit: go by the insole length

The maker gives the insole length per size: 24 cm in size 36, then half a centimetre more per size up to 26.5 cm in size 41.

Measure your foot standing, from heel to longest toe, and choose an insole a little longer than that. A lined boot has less room inside than an unlined one. If you wear thick socks and you are between two sizes, the larger one is the safer choice. The laces let you tighten the fit over the instep.

Styling: white on white, or white against dark

The photos show two ideas. One is all pale: white knit leggings and a long cream jumper, with the boots as the same colour in a different texture. The other sets them against dark patterned tights, which makes the boots the centre of the outfit.

They also work under straight jeans with the hem tucked behind the tongue, and with a long puffer coat. Keep the rest simple. A glossy white boot already says a lot.

Occasions

The maker suggests winter walks. We would add Christmas markets, the school run on frosty mornings and a weekend in the mountains for the hours you are not on skis.
