Smart Planter with a Face: 7 Sensors and 49 Expressions, Purple
For plant lovers who enjoy tech-inspired home decor
Description
A smart planter that pulls faces at you
This smart planter is a rounded purple pot with a small screen on the front. The screen shows a face, and the face changes with the state of your plant. The supplier says it has 7 built-in sensors and more than 49 expressions.
It is a gadget and a flower pot in one. The supplier data is thin, so this page tells you what is stated and where the gaps are.

The piece: a pot with eyes
In the photos the pot is a soft lilac purple with a dark, glossy screen. Two round white eyes look out from it, and a plant with silver-striped leaves grows from the top. It looks like a small pet that happens to hold a plant.
We sell it without a brand. The option is listed as "Ivy Smart Plant"; the supplier names no maker, so we do not use that as a brand name.
Who it's for
For you if you forget to water your plants and would react faster to a sad face than to a drooping leaf. It also makes a fun desk companion and a gift for a child who is getting a first plant to look after.
If you want a proven, documented smart-home device, this is too much of an unknown. Read the gaps below first.
Closer look
- 7 built-in sensors and AI chips (supplier)
- More than 49 expressions on the screen (supplier)
- Automated features and live data for watering and care (supplier)
- Purple pot with a dark screen and two round eyes (photos)
What it does, and what we do not know
According to the supplier, the sensors and chips monitor the plant and the screen shows its condition through expressions. The supplier also mentions automated features and live data that make watering easier. It does not say which things the 7 sensors measure, and it does not say that the pot waters the plant by itself. Do not count on self-watering.
Also missing: the power source, whether there is an app, the material of the pot and its size. We would rather list those gaps than fill them with guesses.
Size and plant
The supplier gives no dimensions. In the photos the pot holds one small houseplant, so think of a desk or windowsill size. The plant in the photos is there as an example; the supplier does not say a plant is included, so plan on adding your own. Ask us before you order if you need the inner diameter for a plant you already have.
Where to put it
The lilac colour is soft enough for a white desk or a light bookshelf, and the dark screen gives it some contrast. A plant with striped or silvery leaves, like the one in the photos, looks good against the purple. Put it where you walk past often, since the face is the whole point.
A gift idea
It is a nice housewarming present for someone with a new flat and no plants yet, and a talking point on an office desk. For a child it can be a first lesson in looking after something alive.
Care
The supplier gives no care instructions. As general practice for a pot with electronics, water slowly and keep water away from the screen and any ports, wipe the outside with a dry cloth, and read the instructions in the box before you plant anything.
The wow detail: the face
More than 49 expressions, the supplier says. We have only seen the wide-eyed one in the photos, and that one already makes the pot look alive. A plant cannot tell you how it feels. This one at least tries.
