The length is 85 cm in every size, and the sizes run from XS to XXL. It comes in white only.

Tessita keeps the description short: an elegant mid-calf skirt with a slit on the left side, fastened with a decorative zipper. That is all the maker tells us, so the rest comes from the three photos.

They show a skirt that widens gradually from the waist, with enough fabric to fall in soft folds. The slit sits at the front of the left leg. It starts above the knee and runs to the hem. When the model stands still it almost closes. When she steps forward you see the knee.

We have no photo of the back, and the zip is not visible from the front or the side. Where exactly it sits, we cannot tell you from the data.

Who it's for

For you if you want a white skirt that covers the knee and still shows some leg. The slit does that work, and it also makes a long skirt easier to walk and cycle in.

The size range is wider than usual. It starts at XS with a waist of 64 cm and goes up to XXL with 94 cm, so there is a fair chance your size is in the table.

The maker does not mention a lining. With a white skirt that matters, so we say it plainly: we do not know whether it is lined.

Fabric and feel: polyester with 5% spandex

The composition is 95% polyester and 5% spandex. In the photos the white is matte and even, and the fabric hangs smoothly without clinging to the legs.

Because we cannot confirm a lining, check the skirt in daylight when it arrives. Skin-tone underwear is the safe choice under any white skirt.

Fit and silhouette: close at the waist, loose below

The waistband is where the skirt has to fit. The maker's table goes up in even steps: 64 cm in XS, 70 in S, 76 in M, 82 in L, 88 in XL and 94 cm in XXL. Below the waist the skirt is wide enough that the hips are not a concern.

The length stays at 85 cm. On the model that is mid-calf, which is also what the maker promises. On a shorter frame it will come closer to the ankle.

Styling: colour on top, skin-tone shoes

In the photos the skirt is worn with a fitted grey top with a floral print and nude pumps. The idea is worth copying. A white skirt takes any colour above it, and shoes close to your skin tone make the leg in the slit look longer.

In summer, try a striped T-shirt and flat sandals. For an evening out, a black bodysuit and heels give a sharp contrast. In autumn the skirt still works with a fine knit in camel and tall boots that disappear under the hem.

Occasions

Tessita calls it an elegant skirt, and it fits days when you dress up a little: a lunch, a graduation, a summer party in the garden. It is also a good skirt for the office from May to September.

One note for wedding guests. An all-white outfit is usually left to the bride, so add a top in a clear colour.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data has no care instructions, so follow the label sewn into the skirt.

With white, wash it separately from colours the first few times and close the zip beforehand. Hang it by the waistband to dry so the folds fall out on their own.

The wow detail: a slit that hides when you stand still

Compare the photos. From the side, with the model standing, you would not know the slit is there. From the front, mid-step, it opens from above the knee to the hem. That is the nice thing about a slit in a wide skirt: it only shows when you move.
