Makadamia Beige Cotton Lounge Set: Snap-Collar Sweatshirt and Joggers

A cotton lounge set with a collar that snaps shut

This is a two-piece cotton lounge set from Makadamia: a loose top with a stand-up collar that closes with snaps, and joggers with an elastic waist and ribbed cuffs at the ankle. There is no hood, which is the point. It slides under a coat without a lump at the neck.

The fabric is 90% cotton with 10% spandex. The set comes in one size and in one colour, a sand beige.

Makadamia sells this set through a fashion wholesaler in Poland. The maker calls the colour beige. Our colour button says "Off White", which is too pale a name for it: what you receive is the sand tone in the first two photos.

The gallery also shows the set in pure white, which was never part of this listing. We kept that photo because it shows how the collar looks open.

The supplier describes a relaxed top without a hood, a stand-up collar with metal snaps, and loose sweatpants with ribbed ankle cuffs. You can wear the two together or split them.

Who it's for

For you if you want something soft to live in that still looks dressed when the doorbell rings. One colour from collar to ankle does most of that work.

It is a one-size set. The chest of the top measures 136 cm, so it is meant to hang wide, and the waist of the joggers stretches from 68 to 88 cm. If your waist falls inside that range, the trousers should hold.

Fabric and feel: 90% cotton

The composition is 90% cotton and 10% spandex. That is a high share of cotton for a jogging set, and the spandex gives the cuffs and the waistband their spring.

In the photos the fabric looks dense and matte and holds its shape at the collar, which stands up by itself when the snaps are closed. We cannot tell you the fabric weight; the maker does not list it.

Fit and silhouette: wide top, tapered leg

The top is 64 cm long and 136 cm around the chest. On the model it covers the hips and the shoulder seam sits well down the arm. The joggers are 100 cm long, loose at the thigh and closed at the ankle by the cuff.

One size leaves you one decision: does the waist range of 68 to 88 cm include you? If you are tall, the cuff will sit a little above the ankle bone. That looks intended with trainers.

Styling: together or apart

The photos show the full set with white trainers, and that is the easy version. Close the collar to the top for a clean high neck, or leave two snaps open and let it fold into a lapel.

The supplier suggests mixing the pieces with other clothes. The top goes over straight jeans. The joggers take a fitted T-shirt and a long coat. Because there is no hood, a scarf sits flat on top of the collar.

Occasions

The supplier lists a day at home, quick shopping, meeting friends and bike rides. We have nothing to add to that except travel: an elastic waist and a collar you can close are good company on a long train ride.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data has no care instructions, so go by the labels sewn into the top and the joggers. We would rather tell you that than guess.

Two general habits for a light cotton set: wash both pieces together so they keep the same shade, and close the snaps first so they do not catch on other laundry.

The wow detail: the snap collar

Most jogging sets end in a hood or a round neck. This one ends in a tall collar on a wide placket with a row of dark snaps. Closed, it frames the face like a funnel neck. Open, the placket folds over and shows its snaps like a small lapel. It is one top with two necklines, and you change between them with your thumb.
