This floral two-piece set by Figl is a jacket and a skirt cut from the same printed fabric. The jacket is short, has no collar and hangs open. The skirt is straight and ends above the knee.

Here the title is right: you get both pieces. The fabric is 100% polyester, and there are two prints, one on black and one on a light ground.

Figl describes a set with floral patterns: a skirt that ends before the knee and a jacket with 3/4 sleeves, in a lightweight material. The supplier lists it under the name Set, with one size table for both pieces.

This page used to call the top piece a cardigan. It is a jacket in woven-looking printed fabric with a clean edge and no visible buttons. In the photos the sleeves reach the elbow on the model, a little shorter than 3/4.

The black print has flowers in orange, white and pink. The second print, which the supplier calls multicolour, sets similar flowers on a pale, blue-white ground. Under the jacket the model wears a plain top that does not come with the set.

Who it's for

For you if you like the idea of a suit and find a trouser suit too serious. A printed jacket and skirt give the same finished look with more play.

You can also split it. The jacket works over a plain dress and the skirt with a white shirt, so you get more out of it than two matching pieces.

Fabric and feel: light polyester

Both pieces are 100% polyester. The maker calls the material lightweight. In the photos it holds a crisp shape: the jacket keeps its straight front edges and the skirt does not cling.

There is no stretch fibre in the composition, so go by the size table and do not count on the fabric giving way.

Fit and silhouette: neat and short

The table gives body ranges. Size M is for a chest of 89 to 92 cm, a waist of 70 to 73 cm and hips of 96 to 98 cm. The steps between sizes are small, about four centimetres.

If your top and bottom fall in different sizes, choose by the hips, since the jacket is worn open and forgives more than a straight skirt does. The skirt is short on the model; on long legs it will be shorter still.

Styling: a plain top underneath

The photos show the set over a plain light top with nude heeled sandals. That is all it needs, because the print covers you from shoulder to thigh.

Black tights and ankle boots take the black version into autumn. For the light print, white sneakers make it a daytime outfit.

The maker's data has no washing instructions, so follow the labels sewn into the jacket and the skirt.

Wash both pieces together in general, so the print fades evenly over time and the set keeps matching.

Because jacket and skirt share the print, they read as one garment, almost like a short dress, until the jacket swings open and you see the top underneath. It is a small trick of the eye, and it makes two simple shapes look considered.
