A collarless blouse that closes with press studs

This collarless blouse by Figl has a V-neck, long sleeves and press studs where you would expect buttons: down the front and at the cuffs. It hangs loose, with a rounded hem that is a little longer at the back.

The fabric is 95% polyester with 5% spandex. There are four plain colours and two floral prints, in sizes S to XL.

Figl sells this shirt through a fashion wholesaler in Poland under six model numbers, 204325 to 204330, one per colour. The maker's description fits in three lines: a long-sleeved shirt, cuffs that fasten with press studs, a neckline without a collar and a press-stud front.

The colour names need a word of explanation. The maker calls two of the plain versions "beige". In the photos one of them is an off-white and the other a dusty pink, and our buttons call them "White" and "Blush Pink". The grey is pale with a lilac cast. The navy is very dark.

The two prints are both labelled "multicolor". They show the same large flowers in orange, pink and grey-blue, once on a beige ground and once on a white ground. The photo that appears when you pick a colour shows the one you get.

Who it's for

For you if a classic shirt collar feels stiff and a T-shirt feels too casual. A V-neck without a collar sits between the two.

The cut is generous. Size S already has a chest of 108 cm, so the blouse is meant to drape and not to follow the body. If you like your tops closer, take a size smaller than usual and check the table.

The lighter colours look slightly sheer in the photos. A top in a skin tone underneath is a good idea with the off-white.

Fabric and feel: a light woven with a little stretch

The composition is 95% polyester and 5% spandex. In the photos the cloth is thin and matte and falls in soft vertical folds from the shoulder.

We cannot tell you the fabric weight; the maker does not list it. What the spandex adds is some give across the back and the elbows.

Fit and silhouette: loose, longer at the back

The chest measures 108 cm in S and grows by 4 cm per size to 120 cm in XL. The front length runs from 65 to 66.5 cm and the back is 2 cm longer in every size.

That length covers the waistband of your trousers at the front and most of the seat at the back. Tucked in, the loose body blouses over a belt, as in the photos with the high-waisted trousers.

Source: the maker's size table, the same for all six colours. It gives the length as two numbers, such as 65/67; we read them as front and back because the hem is longer at the back in the photos.

Styling: out over jeans, in with trousers

The photos show two ways to wear it. The plain colours hang loose over blue jeans, with heeled sandals. The prints are tucked into high-waisted trousers with a belt, in navy and in dark red.

Open one more stud and add a fine chain, and the V becomes the centre of the outfit. Under a blazer the missing collar is an advantage: nothing bunches at the neck.

Occasions

This is an everyday shirt. The plain versions go to the office and to dinner without thought. The floral ones are for days when you want colour: a birthday lunch, a spring weekend, a Friday at work.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data has no care instructions, so go by the label sewn into the blouse. We would rather tell you that than guess.

One general habit with press studs: close them before washing, and open them by pulling at the stud itself and not at the fabric around it.

The wow detail: no buttonholes

Press studs change how a shirt behaves. You close it in two seconds, you open the cuffs with one hand, and the front lies flat because there are no buttonholes to gape. It is a small piece of practical thinking on a blouse that looks simple, and you will notice it every morning.
