This blouse with sheer sleeves by Lakerta looks delicate and is easy to wear. The body is lined, so nothing shows through where you don't want it. The long sleeves are transparent, and a diagonal stripe runs through the whole fabric.

The sleeves are wide and gathered at the wrist into a small ruffled cuff. Down the front runs a row of small round buttons with a soft sheen.

Fabric and feel: cotton blend, sheer where it counts

The maker gives one composition for the blouse: 65% cotton, 30% polyester and 5% spandex. It does not say which part is which, so we can't tell you whether that describes the striped fabric, the lining or both together.

The supplier writes that the lining makes the blouse pleasant to wear. In the photos the fabric is light and holds some volume in the sleeves.

Fit and silhouette: two double sizes

There are two sizes, and each covers two regular ones. For S/M the maker gives a chest of 82-86 cm and for L/XL 91-96 cm. The sleeve is measured twice: along the inside it is 49-51 cm in S/M and 53-55 cm in L/XL, along the outside 59-61 cm and 63-65 cm.

What the photos show: on the model the blouse is loose through the body, the shoulder seam sits at the shoulder and the hem ends at the hip. The supplier calls the length standard. The table has no body length. If your chest falls between 86 and 91 cm, we would take L/XL, because a blouse with a lining gives less than a single layer does.

Styling: jeans by day, a skirt by night

In the photos the blouse is half tucked into blue jeans. It is a good everyday combination, because the jeans calm the ruffles down.

The supplier says the length works over trousers and with a skirt. For work we would tuck it into high-waisted tailored trousers. For a dinner or a party, try it with a dark pencil skirt and let the sleeves be the lightest thing in the outfit. Keep jewellery at the ears, since the collar already frames the neck.

Occasions

The supplier names work and business meetings. We would add the occasions where a plain shirt feels too plain: a birthday dinner, a christening, drinks in December, a first day at a new job.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data has no care instructions, so go by the label sewn into the blouse.

With sheer fabric and small buttons, a laundry bag is a sensible habit whatever the label says, and it helps to close the buttons before washing.

The wow detail: stripes you can see through

The stripe is part of the fabric itself. Every other band is sheer, so on the sleeves the pattern is made of fabric and skin in turn. When you lift your arm against the light, the diagonal lines show up as shadow. It is a quiet effect, and it is the reason this blouse does not need a print.
