Nela is the dress Numoco makes for the evenings that come with an invitation. It reaches the floor, the sleeves are long and loose, and the fabric has a fine glitter that shows when you move.

The front is closed with a wrap neckline. The surprise is at the back, where the neckline dips into a V, and on the left leg, where a slit opens when you walk. The maker's table gives a length of 145 cm in XS and 151 cm in the two largest sizes.

The piece: Nela in four colours

Numoco sells Nela under a separate model number for each colour. We checked all four against the supplier's data: black, navy blue, beige and bottle green share one cut and one size table. The supplier says the dress is a Polish product.

The description is consistent across the four. A long dress with a slit on the leg, loose long sleeves finished with an elastic band, a wrap neckline at the front and a neckline at the back. The material is called shiny and elastic. For the beige one the supplier also mentions a concealed zipper at the back.

One naming issue: the colour button on this page says "Light Gray". The maker calls that colour beige, and in the photos it is a soft greige with a silver shimmer.

Who it's for

For you if you want long sleeves at a formal event and you do not want to look buttoned up. The arms are covered, and the back and the slit keep it light.

The size range is wide, from XS to XXXL, with a chest of 78 cm at one end and 104 cm at the other. That makes it a practical choice for a group, such as bridesmaids who want one dress in different sizes.

Fabric and feel: stretch with a shimmer

The composition is 95% polyester and 5% spandex for all four colours. The supplier calls it a shiny, elastic material, and for the beige version speaks of a delicate glittery sheen. In the photos the glitter is fine, more of a shimmer across the whole dress than separate sparkles.

Glitter fabrics can feel a little rough on bare skin. We cannot judge that from photos, and the maker does not say whether the dress is lined.

Fit and silhouette: fitted waist, long loose skirt

The dress is fitted at the waist and loose below it. Size M has a chest of 86 cm and a waist of 70 cm. The steps are 4 cm per size up to XL, and larger after that: XXL has a waist of 84 cm and XXXL 92 cm.

Length matters with a floor-length dress. It runs from 145 cm in XS to 151 cm in XXL and XXXL, and on the model in heels the hem touches the floor. Measure from your shoulder to the floor in the shoes you plan to wear and compare.

Styling: keep the back in mind

The model wears transparent heels and a short pendant, and has her hair pulled to one side in the back views. That last point is worth copying. An updo or a low ponytail shows the back neckline, which is half the dress.

With the black or navy version, gold-tone earrings and a small clutch are enough. The beige takes silver-tone jewellery well. The green needs very little.

Occasions

The supplier names weddings, balls, proms and receptions. We would add a gala evening at work and a Christmas dinner with a dress code. With long sleeves it is an obvious pick for the colder months, when a strapless gown means an evening with a shawl.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data has no care instructions, so follow the label sewn into the dress.

A general habit with glitter fabrics: turn the dress inside out before washing and keep it away from rough textures, so the surface does not catch.

From the front, Nela is a modest dress: long sleeves, a wrap neckline, a skirt to the floor. Then you turn around. The V at the back is the part people see when you walk away, and it is why this dress looks different from every side.
