This is a white egg holder in the form of a drawer. Two rails slide over a fridge shelf, the tray hangs underneath, and you pull it out when you need an egg. The bottom has rows of round hollows, so the eggs stay put.

Most fridges have a few centimetres of empty space under each shelf, above whatever is standing below. This drawer uses that gap. The supplier describes it as a pull-out drawer that makes better use of the space in your fridge, and the photos show it hanging under a glass shelf on two side rails.

At the front there is an oval cut-out to pull it by. Eggs sit in hollows at the bottom, so they don't roll when you open it.

Materials and build

The supplier calls it light, 0.16 kg, with a white finish, but does not say what it is made of. We would rather leave that open than guess. If it matters for you, ask us and we will check with the supplier.

Size: check your fridge first

Here is the catch: the supplier gives no measurements, and no range for the shelf thickness the rails can take. The supplier claims it fits any fridge, but we can't confirm that. Before you order, look at how much free height you have under a shelf, and ask us for the drawer size if you want to be sure.

Ways to use it

Eggs are the obvious one. The supplier photos also fill it with lettuce, oranges, cherries and cucumbers, which works because the hollows sit underneath the produce. Two drawers under one shelf, one for eggs and one for fruit, make a tidy little system.

Occasions

A big fridge clean-out in January, a move into a new kitchen, or a small housewarming gift for someone who likes things in order.

Care

The supplier gives no care instructions. Slide it off the shelf, wash it by hand in warm water with a little washing-up liquid, and let it dry before you put it back. Because the material is not stated, we would skip the dishwasher.
