This zip-up shirt swaps the button placket for a zip and frames it with a strip of lace on each side. The collar stands up, the sleeves are long, and the cuffs flare out below a smocked band.

Fabric and feel: polyester without stretch

The supplier gives 100% polyester and no stretch. That is all it says about the fabric: no weight, no weave, no word on how sheer it is. In the images the cloth looks thin and slightly see-through, so plan for a camisole underneath until you have seen it yourself.

Fit and silhouette: fitted, with long sleeves

Size M has a bust of 100.1 cm and a length of 67.1 cm. Sleeves are long at 71.1 cm in M, which fits a cuff that is meant to fall over the hand.

Without stretch, the bust has to be right. Compare it with a woven shirt you own. If you sit between two sizes, the larger one will zip more easily.

Styling: white on white, or with black

The images show it with white jeans and a pendant in the open neck. White on white is a strong look for spring and summer.

For contrast, wear it with black trousers and zip it higher. The flared cuffs want room, so skip tight jacket sleeves and choose a waistcoat or a cape instead.

Occasions

Wear it to dinner, to a concert, to a christening or a summer party. Zipped up it can go to the office. It is a shirt for days when you want to look like you made an effort.

Care: cold wash, zip closed

The supplier says machine wash cold and tumble dry low. Close the zip first so its teeth cannot catch the lace, and use a laundry bag if you have one.
