The piece: the Rue Paris corduroy blazer
Rue Paris is a womenswear label we buy through a fashion wholesaler in Poland. The supplier describes this style as a corduroy blazer in a casual edition, for everyday wear and for work. It has long sleeves, classic lapels, a standard length and a single button.
Each colour has its own model number, and the description and size table are the same for all of them. Nine colours are active at the supplier now.
Several photos show matching corduroy trousers. Those are a separate product. This page is for the blazer.
Who it's for
For you if a tailored blazer feels too stiff and a cardigan too soft. Corduroy sits in between: it has the shape of a jacket and the ease of something you could wear on the sofa.
It is one size, and a generous one, with a chest of 112 cm. On a small frame it will look properly oversized, with sleeves you may want to push up. On a fuller frame it becomes a regular, easy fit.
Closer look: what the maker's data and the photos show
- Corduroy texture in a plain colour (maker's data); fine ribs (photos)
- Classic lapels and long sleeves (maker's data)
- Single-button closure (maker's data); one dark button (photos)
- Pocket imitations (maker's data); flaps at hip height on both sides (photos)
- Standard length, 70 cm (maker's data and size table)
- Loose fit with dropped shoulders (photos)
Pocket imitations means the flaps are decorative. Do not count on working pockets. The supplier does not say whether the blazer is lined.
Fabric and feel: cotton corduroy with a little stretch
The maker lists 98% cotton and 2% spandex. Corduroy is a cotton fabric with raised ribs of cut pile, which is where its soft, slightly velvety surface comes from. The supplier says the elastane gives gentle flexibility and comfort through the day.
In the photos the ribs are fine, so the fabric looks smooth from a distance and textured up close. Like most corduroy, it shows a different depth of colour depending on how the light hits the pile.
Fit and silhouette: one generous size
The maker's table has one row, the same for every colour: 70 cm long, with a chest of 112 cm, a waist of 114 cm and hips of 120 cm. These read as measurements of the jacket itself. The blazer gets wider towards the hem, which is why it hangs straight and does not pull when you button it.
To judge the fit, measure a blazer or coat you own across the chest, double the number and compare it with 112 cm. If yours comes out well below that, expect this one to be clearly roomier.
Size chart (cm)
| Size | Length | Chest | Waist | Hips |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One size | 70 | 112 | 114 | 120 |
Source: the maker's size table, the same for every colour. The numbers read as garment measurements, but the table does not say so.
Styling: as a suit or as a jacket
The supplier suggests classic trousers, jeans or a pencil skirt. In the photos it is mostly worn open over a cropped black top, with matching trousers or black leggings, and with trainers as often as with heels.
The colour decides the mood. Black, brown, beige and green are easy over jeans and a white T-shirt. The bright blue, pink, orange and yellow work when the rest of the outfit is black or white. Push the sleeves up a little and the oversized cut looks deliberate.
Occasions
The supplier names everyday wear and the office. Corduroy is a classic for autumn, and this blazer works as your jacket on a mild day and as a layer under a coat when it gets colder.
Think of work, a lunch, a school pick-up, drinks on a Friday. In one of the strong colours it is also a good answer to a party where you do not feel like wearing a dress.
Care: follow the label
The maker's data we receive has no care instructions, so please go by the label sewn into the blazer.
Two habits are kind to any corduroy: turn it inside out before washing, and steam it instead of pressing it flat, because pressure crushes the pile. If the label says something else, the label wins.
The wow detail: the colour range
A corduroy blazer usually comes in brown and maybe in green. This one also comes in bright blue, fuchsia pink, orange and yellow, and the pile makes those colours look deeper than they would on a flat fabric. Pick the brown for the classic version, or pick the yellow and be the bright spot in a grey week.
