Description
A short collarless jacket with a row of pale buttons
This short collarless jacket by Rue Paris has the outline of a classic French-style jacket: a round neck, a straight boxy cut and buttons down the front. It is lined and made of 100% polyester.
There are two sizes, S/M and L/XL, and four colours you can order now: black, dark brown, grey and camel brown. On the model the jacket ends around the waist.

The piece: one jacket, four colours
Rue Paris gives each colour its own model number, and the description barely changes from one to the next: a short-cut jacket in polyester, finished with a lining, with a plain surface, long sleeves and a classic button fastening.
The photos show what the text leaves out. The neckline is round and has no collar. There are four flaps on the front, two on the chest and two near the hem, each with its own button. The buttons are round and cream-coloured, and they stand out most on the black and the dark brown.
Our button brown 2 is the lighter camel brown from the later photos.
Who it's for
For you if a blazer feels too strict and a cardigan too soft. A short jacket without lapels sits in between: neat enough for a meeting, easy enough for a Saturday.
It works well on a shorter torso and with high-waisted trousers or skirts, because the hem meets the waistband. If you like your jackets to cover the hips, this one will feel short.
Closer look: what the maker states and what the photos show
- Short cut, long sleeves (maker's data)
- Classic button fastening (maker's data)
- Lined (maker's data)
- 100% polyester (maker's data)
- Round neckline without a collar (photos)
- Four buttoned flaps on the front (photos)
- Brushed, slightly fuzzy surface (photos)
The maker does not say whether there are real pockets behind the flaps. We can't see it in the photos either, so count on flaps and be pleased if there is a pocket.
Fabric and feel: brushed polyester with a lining
The composition is 100% polyester. In the photos the cloth has a brushed, slightly fuzzy face that gives the colours depth, and the grey has a flecked look. It resembles a winter coating fabric, and it is polyester, so it carries no animal fibre.
The lining matters in a jacket like this. It lets the sleeves slide over a knit or a shirt, and it gives the boxy shape some body. The maker gives no fabric weight, so we can't say how thick it is.
Fit and silhouette: boxy and waist-length
The maker's table gives a chest of 82-86 cm for S/M and 91-96 cm for L/XL. The sleeve measures 59-61 cm along the outside in S/M and 63-65 cm in L/XL, and 49-51 or 53-55 cm along the inside.
The table has no body length. In the photos the hem sits around the waist and the shoulders look lightly structured. The chest ranges are narrow for double sizes, so if you are at the top of a range and want to wear a knit underneath, the larger size is the safer one.
Size chart (cm)
| Size | Chest | Inner sleeve length | Outer sleeve length |

| S/M | 82-86 | 49-51 | 59-61 |
| L/XL | 91-96 | 53-55 | 63-65 |

Styling: closed as a top, open as a jacket
The model wears the jacket buttoned up with nothing visible underneath and slim trousers in a contrasting colour: black with burgundy, dark brown with olive, camel with dark brown. Worn like that, it replaces a top.
Open, it goes over a fine roll-neck or a white T-shirt. The maker suggests elegant trousers or a skirt. We would add straight jeans for the weekend, where the pale buttons do the dressing up.
Occasions
The maker names everyday wear, work and formal occasions. It is at its strongest at work and at dinners, where you take your coat off and the jacket becomes the outfit.
It is an indoor jacket. Outside in winter it needs a coat over it.
Care: follow the label
The maker's data we receive has no care instructions, so please go by the label sewn into the jacket. We would rather say that than guess.
As a general habit, a lined jacket keeps its shape longest on a hanger with rounded shoulders. A clothes brush lifts lint from a brushed surface better than a sticky roller.
The wow detail: the buttons
Count them in the first photo: a row down the front and one on each of the four flaps. They are pale against a dark, matte cloth, and that contrast is what gives the jacket its French look. On the camel version they blend in more, which makes that one the quietest of the four.
