Description
A light quilted jacket for the months in between
This quilted jacket by Italy Moda is made for days that start cold and end mild. It is 100% nylon with a lining, it zips up to a stand-up collar, and the two pockets close with a zip as well.
The maker calls it light. It is 58 cm long, which puts the hem at the hip, and it comes in one size in blue, white and black.

The piece: three colours by Italy Moda
Italy Moda describes a transitional jacket for autumn, winter and spring, in a standard length and without a hood. Each colour has its own model number: 208995 is blue, 208996 white and 209201 black.
The quilting runs in diamonds across the body and the sleeves. In the photos the nylon is smooth with a light sheen, strongest on the black. The blue is a pale sky blue. The last three photos show a pale pink jacket. That colour is not part of our range.
Who it's for
For you if you cycle to work and need something that blocks the wind and weighs little. It suits you if a thick winter coat is too much for most of the Dutch year, which it often is.
It comes in one size with a chest of 100 cm and hips of 110 cm. Check those two numbers against a jacket you own before you order.
Closer look: maker's data and photos
- Quilted structure (maker's data), stitched in diamonds (photos)
- Zipper closure at the front (maker's data and photos)
- Stand-up collar, no hood (maker's data and photos)
- Two slit pockets with a zip (maker's data and photos)
- Lined inside (maker's data)
- Long sleeves; hem at the hip (maker's data and photos)
The maker does not say what sits between the nylon and the lining, and names no filling weight. That is why we call this jacket quilted and leave it there.
Fabric and feel: nylon outside, lining inside
The outer fabric is 100% nylon. According to the maker it gives protection against the wind, and the lining is there for comfort. In the photos the surface is smooth and slightly glossy, and the jacket keeps a soft, rounded shape.
How warm is it? The maker calls it light and transitional. We would wear it over a jumper from October and over a T-shirt in April. For frost, look at a padded winter coat.
Fit and size: one size, hip length
The maker's table lists one size: 58 cm long, 100 cm at the chest and 110 cm at the hips. On the models the jacket sits close without being tight, and the sleeves reach the wrist.
The table does not say whether it measures the jacket or the body. If it is the jacket, a chest of 100 cm leaves room for a jumper up to roughly a size M to L. If you usually wear a larger size, this one-size jacket may be snug.

Styling: sporty jacket, soft colours
In the photos the blue and the white are worn over a short pink skirt, and the black over black trousers. The first idea is the surprising one. A sporty jacket over a skirt takes the sweetness out of pastel.
For every day, the black goes over jeans and trainers. The white looks fresh with beige chinos, and the blue with white trousers in spring. Zip it up to the top on the bike and you can leave the scarf at home on a mild day.
Occasions
The maker suggests everyday and office outfits. It is the jacket by the door: for the commute, the school run, a walk on Sunday. The maker calls it light, so it is also easy to take on a weekend away.
Care: follow the label
The maker's data has no care instructions, so go by the label sewn into the jacket.
Close the zips before washing. With the white, treat marks on the collar and cuffs early, because that is where a light jacket shows wear first.
The wow detail: pockets that zip shut
It sounds small until you have lost a key on a bike path. Both pockets close with a zip, so your phone, your keys and your bank card stay where you put them. The maker mentions it for exactly that reason: safe storage of small items.
