This faux fur jacket by AT is all texture. Long, shaggy pile covers the body and the sleeves, the neckline has no collar and the front closes with a hook and eye.

It is 100% polyester, lined, and has pockets. The maker says plainly that it is not insulated, so see it as a layer for style and mild days. It comes in pink and twelve other colours, in three sizes.

AT is the maker's label at a Polish fashion wholesaler. The supplier describes a transitional jacket with a fur finish, long sleeves, a hook-and-eye closure, pockets and a lining. The composition is 100% polyester, so the fur is imitation.

The colour menu needs a guide, because several names repeat. "Pink" is the soft pink, "pink 2" is fuchsia and "pink 3" is a dusty pink. "Grey" is the darker grey and "grey 2" the lighter one. "Brown" with a capital is a rust brown that the maker files under orange, "brown" is a mid brown and "brown 2" is beige. "Green" is a dark khaki, "green 3" a sage and "green 4" an emerald. "Light Blue" is a light turquoise, and "blue" is a soft, dusty blue.

Who it's for

For you if you want one piece that turns jeans and a T-shirt into an outfit. A shaggy jacket does that on its own, and the brighter colours do it loudly.

Materials and feel: polyester pile, lined

The maker gives 100% polyester. There is no animal fibre in this jacket; the long pile is synthetic. In the photos the strands are several centimetres long and hang in loose, uneven tips, which gives the shaggy look.

A lining sits between you and the pile. The maker does not say what the lining is made of beyond the overall composition, and gives no weight for the fabric.

Fit and silhouette: boxy, with a small chest range

The maker gives the chest as a range: 82-86 cm in S/M, 86-91 cm in M/L and 91-96 cm in L/XL. For the newer colours the outside sleeve is 59-61, 61-63 and 63-65 cm. No body length is listed; on the models the jacket ends at the hip.

The cut in the photos is straight and roomy, and the pile adds volume on top. If you plan to wear a thick jumper under it, size up. If you are unsure between two sizes, ask us and we will check with the supplier.

Styling: keep the rest sleek

The photos pair it with straight jeans, a slip dress, a checked mini skirt and wide trousers in the same green. The common thread is a smooth, simple layer underneath. Volume on top wants a clean line below.

Tone-on-tone works well: the emerald jacket over green trousers, the beige over a beige dress. For a night out, the fuchsia or pink over black is an easy choice. Leave scarves at home; the neckline is better bare or with a fine roll-neck.

Occasions

The supplier places it in autumn and winter and says it also suits spring. We agree for mild days and for indoors: a party, a dinner, a festival evening, a wedding where you need something over your shoulders. For real cold, wear it under a proper coat or keep it for the car-to-door kind of evening.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data has no care instructions, so go by the label sewn into the jacket. Long synthetic pile tangles with heat and friction, so check the label before you wash it at all.

Between wears, shake the jacket out and comb the pile gently with your fingers. Hang it with some space around it so the strands are not pressed flat.

The wow detail: the pile

The strands are long enough to move. When the model lifts an arm, the pile swings and falls back, and at the cuffs and hem it ends in an uneven fringe. That movement is why the jacket looks alive in every photo, whatever the colour.
