Low block heel ankle boots you can wear all day

These low block heel ankle boots by Solea go by the style name Lilua. The heel is 4.5 cm, which is enough to lift a pair of jeans and low enough for a full day on your feet.

The upper is faux leather with a soft gloss. A set of narrow straps runs around the ankle and carries a small gold-tone chain detail. You can choose black or brown, in sizes 36 to 41.

Solea is a footwear label we buy through a fashion wholesaler in Poland. Model 222370 is black and 222371 is brown. The supplier's texts for the two are long and mostly sales talk. The facts in them are few: block heel ankle boots with a decorative strap, a thick and stable heel, and a soft insole.

The attribute list is more useful. It gives artificial leather for the upper, fabric for the footbed, a shaft of 12.5 cm and a heel of 4.5 cm.

The photos supply the rest. The toe is round, there is a zip on the inner side and an elastic insert at the top of the shaft, and the sole has a ridged edge.

Who they're for

For you if you want one pair of boots for most days of autumn. They are neat enough for work and easy enough for a Saturday of errands.

If you avoid heels because they tire you, 4.5 cm on a wide block is about as friendly as a heel gets. And if you like a bit of decoration, the chain detail gives you some without shouting.

The supplier's text does not mention the zip or the elastic; we describe them from the photos. Gold-tone is a colour, and the material of the ornament is not stated.

Materials and build: faux leather upper, fabric footbed

The maker lists artificial leather for the upper and fabric for the footbed. In the photos the upper has a soft gloss, a little like polished leather, and it keeps a smooth shape over the toe.

The supplier's text talks about warmth and bad weather in general terms. The attribute list names no lining or insulation, so we do not promise either. Treat them as boots for dry autumn days and add warm socks when it gets cold.

Size and dimensions: half a centimetre per size

The maker's table is the same for black and brown and it is regular. The insole is 23.5 cm in size 36 and grows by half a centimetre per size, to 26 cm in size 41.

Measure your foot standing, heel to longest toe, and choose the size whose insole is a little longer. The round toe gives your toes room. The shaft is 12.5 cm high and the zip and elastic insert make it easy to get in and out.

Styling: cropped hems show the strap

In the photos the black pair is worn with cropped blue jeans with a raw hem, and the brown pair with cropped white ones. That is the idea: the hem stops above the shaft so the straps and the chain stay in view.

The supplier suggests jeans and dresses. A midi skirt with tights works well with the black. The chestnut brown is good with cream, olive and navy, and it warms up an all-beige outfit.

Occasions

The supplier names work, meeting friends and an evening date. We would add the daily things: the commute, a walk through town, a school meeting, a weekend trip where you want one pair of shoes for everything.

Care: no instructions from the maker
