The piece: one glove, a dozen colours
The maker's description is two sentences long. Elegant women's gloves made of smooth insulated material. An index finger with an embroidered flower, so you can use your phone without taking the gloves off.
The photos show a wrist-length glove with a matte surface that looks like suede and stitched lines on the back of the hand. It only looks like suede. The fabric is cotton and polyester, and our old page title was wrong to call it suede.
Who it's for
For you if you take your gloves off twenty times a day to answer a message. With these you tap with the flower and keep your hands covered.
With 12 colours they are also an easy way to add colour to a dark coat. Buying two pairs in different shades is not a strange idea.
Closer look: what the maker states and what the photos show
- Smooth insulated material (maker's data)
- Embroidered flower on the index finger for phone use (maker's data)
- Wrist length (photos)
- Matte surface with a suede look (photos)
- Stitched lines on the back of the hand (photos)
The maker does not describe the lining or say which hand carries the flower.
Fabric and feel: mostly cotton
The composition is 60% cotton, 35% polyester and 5% spandex. The spandex lets the glove stretch over the knuckles and close around the wrist again.
The maker calls the material insulated and does not give a temperature rating. We read that as a glove for ordinary Dutch winter days: the bike ride to work, a walk, waiting on a platform. For skiing or hard frost you will want something thicker.
Size and fit: two sizes
There are two sizes, S/M and L/XL, and the maker gives no measurements for either. If you usually wear a small or medium glove, take S/M. If your hands are long or broad, take L/XL.
Several colours are in stock in L/XL only at the moment. The size buttons show what is available per colour.
Styling: match or clash
The photos show both approaches. Caramel gloves with a brown houndstooth coat blend in. Burgundy gloves against a bright green sweater do the opposite, and it looks good.
Grey, taupe and navy are the safe ones for every coat. Mustard, pink and violet are for people who like their accessories to be noticed.
Occasions
Commuting, the school run, a walk in the park, a Christmas market. They also fit in a coat pocket, which makes them a simple present for Sinterklaas or under the tree.
Care: follow the label
The maker's data has no washing instructions, so follow the label inside the glove. As a general habit, let gloves dry flat at room temperature and keep them off the radiator.
The wow detail: the flower is the button
Touchscreen gloves usually have a grey patch on the fingertip that looks technical. Here the maker turned that patch into a small embroidered flower. You tap your screen with it, and when you are not on your phone it is simply a decoration.
