This floral embroidered denim vest top is a short, sleeveless waistcoat with a round neck and a row of buttons. The body is covered in small flowers in blue, red and green, and the edges are finished in a faded blue denim look.

You can wear it closed as a top or open over something else. One honest note up front: the supplier calls it denim and lists the composition as 95% rayon and 5% polyester. We pass on both.

Fabric and feel: what we know and what we don't

The supplier's title says denim. Its composition line says 95% rayon and 5% polyester, with no stretch. Rayon is a lighter fibre than the one jeans are made of, so expect a denim look in a lighter fabric. We would rather tell you that than promise heavy jeans cloth.

The supplier does not say whether the vest is lined.

Fit and silhouette: short and neat

The bust measures 91.9 cm in S and goes up by about four centimetres per size to 103.9 cm in XL. The shoulder is 36.1 to 39.1 cm. The fabric has no stretch, so compare the bust figure with a shirt that fits you when it is buttoned.

The length runs from 49 to 52.1 cm. On the model the hem ends where her high-waisted trousers begin.

Styling: closed, open or layered

The photos show two ways. Buttoned up, it is a top for white jeans. Left open over a white bandeau, it becomes a light layer for summer.

In autumn, wear it over a thin roll-neck or a white shirt with the sleeves showing. Blue jeans pick up the trim.

Occasions

Wear it on a terrace, at a festival, on a city trip, or to work on a Friday over a shirt. It is a piece for days when you want to look a little put together without a jacket.

Care: machine wash cold

The supplier's instruction is machine wash cold, tumble dry low. Button it and turn it inside out before washing, so the surface of the flowers rubs less against the rest of the load.

The washed blue band works like a picture frame. It runs around the neck, down the front and along the hem, and it holds all those small flowers together. Without it the vest would be sweet. With it, the vest has an edge.
