You have a wedding, a gala or a long evening party coming up and you want one dress that looks dressed up from the first toast to the last song. This Numoco maxi dress has a wrap neckline, a high leg slit that gives you room to move, and a hidden zip at the back.

The maker gives a length of 149 to 151 cm, so on most people it reaches the floor. You can choose a soft glitter finish, a shiny satin, black brocade or blue sequins, in sizes XS to XXXL.

Numoco is a Polish label, and the supplier lists this dress as a Polish product in its evening dress range. All versions share the same idea: a long maxi dress with an envelope neckline that crosses over at the front, a slit at the leg and a zip hidden in the back seam.

What changes is the fabric finish. Most colours are a glitter fabric with a fine sparkle: red, bottle green, navy blue, beige, dusty pink, fuchsia, maroon and cornflower blue. Three are satin with a high sheen: gold falling into beige, maroon and cornflower. The black version is a shiny brocade the maker calls CRYSTAL, and one blue version is an elastic sequined fabric with short wavy sleeves and a slightly flared hem.

In the photos every colour has short flutter sleeves and a gathered seam at the waist. The composition is the same for all of them: 95% polyester and 5% spandex.

Who it's for

For you if you are a wedding guest, a bridesmaid in a group that wants matching colours, or simply going to a gala and want a long dress that doesn't hold you back on the dance floor. The supplier says the cut was made with dancing in mind, and the slit is high enough to walk and turn freely.

Fabric and feel: glitter, satin, brocade or sequins

All versions are 95% polyester with 5% spandex, so there is a little stretch in the fabric. The glitter versions have a fine, even sparkle that you see more as the light moves than up close. The satin versions are smooth with a strong sheen and move in long folds, as you can see in the gold-beige and cornflower photos.

The black CRYSTAL version is described as a shiny brocade. The blue sequin version is called elastic by the maker, with sequins that catch the light. The dress weighs about 650 g, according to the supplier.

Fit and sizing

The dress is cut close at the bodice and waist and falls straight to the floor, with the slit giving room at the leg. The chart below is the maker's table for the glitter, brocade and sequin versions: chest 78 cm in XS up to 102 cm in XXXL, waist 68 to 92 cm, length 149 to 151 cm.

The satin versions have their own table and are a little roomier at the chest and waist. If you are between two sizes, go by your chest measurement, because the wrap front is the part that has to sit right.

Styling: let the colour do the work

Because the cut stays the same, the colour and finish decide the mood. Bottle green, maroon and navy glitter look good with gold-tone jewellery and a small clutch for a winter wedding. Dusty pink, beige and cornflower are softer for a daytime ceremony; pair them with nude or clear-strap heels like in the photos.

The satin versions need very little extra: a thin bracelet and simple heels. With black brocade, a red lip or one bold earring is enough. Keep necklaces short or skip them, as the wrap neckline already frames the face.

Occasions

Weddings as a guest or bridesmaid, gala evenings, proms, Christmas and New Year parties, and any evening with a dress code that asks for a long dress. The supplier lists it as an evening dress.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data has no care instructions, so go by the label sewn into the dress. As a general habit with glitter, satin and sequin fabrics: turn the dress inside out, wash it gently by hand or on a delicate cycle, and hang it to dry. Close the zip before washing so it cannot catch the fabric.
