An asymmetrical dress with a lace top and a skirt that is longer at the back

This asymmetrical dress by Numoco is two things joined at the waist. On top, a fitted lace bodice with a V-neck and short lace sleeves. Below, a wide skirt that ends at the knee in front and drops to the calf behind.

It is pastel pink from the shoulder to the hem. The fabric is 70% viscose and 30% polyester, and the maker's table runs from S to XXXL.

The supplier calls Numoco a Polish brand and describes this model as romantic and comfortable: a lace top with a V-neck, lace sleeves and a flared, asymmetrical bottom that moves as you walk.

This design has been around for a while. The gallery still shows it in burgundy and cobalt blue. Those versions are no longer supplied. The one you can order is the pastel pink, model 215902, in the last three photos.

The maker's size table gives two lengths per size, front and back. In size M that is 89 cm and 102 cm, a difference of thirteen centimetres between the front hem and the back hem.

Who it's for

For you if you are a guest at a wedding or a communion and want a dress that looks festive in daylight. Pastel pink and lace do that without glitter.

The table goes up to XXXL, with a chest of 110 cm and a waist of 98 cm in the largest size. At the wholesaler the larger sizes are the ones in stock right now.

Fabric and feel: viscose blend and lace

The maker gives one composition for the dress: 70% viscose and 30% polyester. It describes the material as soft and pleasant to the touch.

In the photos the skirt is smooth with a soft sheen and enough weight to fall in deep folds. The bodice is covered in floral lace in the same pink. There is no stretch fibre in the composition, so the bodice will not give much.

Fit and silhouette: fitted top, full skirt

The bodice is fitted and the skirt is free, so chest and waist decide your size. Size L is listed with a chest of 86 cm and a waist of 76 cm. Then comes a big step: XXL has 106 cm and 90 cm, XXXL has 110 cm and 98 cm.

The table does not say whether these are garment or body measurements. Compare them with a fitted dress you own. The front length is 88 to 95 cm and the back 100 to 106 cm, depending on size.

Styling: shoes matter here

The high-low hem puts your shoes on show from the front. The maker suggests heels, sandals or ballet flats. In the photos the dress is worn with nude pumps, which makes the legs and the pink read as one soft line.

Keep jewellery small, since the lace neckline is already detailed. A short jacket that ends at the waist seam keeps the skirt free.

Occasions

The supplier lists a wedding, a communion and a date. It is a festive little dress for daytime parties, and we would add a baptism, a graduation and an anniversary lunch.

The skirt takes up room when you turn. That is the fun of it on a dance floor.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data has no washing instructions, so follow the label sewn into the dress.

Lace catches on zips and hooks in general. A laundry bag, or a hand wash if the label allows, protects the bodice.

The wow detail: thirteen centimetres

In size M the back of the skirt is thirteen centimetres longer than the front. That gap is what makes the hem curve. From the front you see knees and shoes; from behind you see a longer, calmer dress. When you spin, the two lengths open into a wide wave.
