This washed cotton baseball cap has a faded, worn-in look from day one and one small detail on the front: a heart outline, embroidered in white.

It is one size, adjustable from 56 to 60 cm with a strap at the back, and it comes in six colours.

The cap is sold under the label Circle Back. The supplier describes it as a one-piece item in washed cotton, imported, and gives four measurements for the brim, the height and the circumference.

In the photos the wash shows as lighter seams and edges, which gives each colour a soft, slightly uneven tone. The heart is drawn like a quick sketch, with a double line, and sits a little off-centre on the front panel.

Materials and build: washed cotton

The supplier gives the material as washed cotton and no percentage, so we cannot tell you whether anything else is blended in. Washed means the fabric was treated to look and feel broken in.

The photos show an unstructured cap: the front panels are soft and follow the shape of your head.

Size and dimensions: one size, 56 to 60 cm

The strap at the back sets the circumference anywhere between 56 and 60 cm. The crown is 14 cm high. The brim measures 7.5 cm from front to back and 16 cm across.

The supplier gives these figures in inches (a circumference of 22.04 to 23.62 in, a height of 5.5 in, a brim of 2.95 by 6.3 in); we converted them and rounded to half a centimetre.

Styling: with a ponytail and a plain tee

A washed cap is at home with jeans, a sweatshirt, a trench coat or a summer dress. Pull a ponytail through the opening above the strap and you are done.

Beige and grey are the easy colours. Hot pink is the fun one, and we would wear it with navy or white.

Occasions

Wear it on a walk, at a festival, on the beach, on a bike ride or on the school run. It also folds into a bag for holidays.

Care: no instructions from the supplier

The supplier gives no care instructions for this cap, so follow the label inside it. Our own advice is to wash a cap by hand in cool water and let it dry over a bowl, so the brim keeps its curve.
