A short wrap shirt dress in crepe

This wrap shirt dress by Moe is half shirt, half wrap. The top has a collar, long sleeves with button cuffs and a V-shaped neckline where the two fronts cross. The skirt is short and fitted, and its front crosses over as well.

The fabric is crepe, 95% polyester with 5% spandex, and the dress has no lining. It was designed and sewn in Poland. Sizes run from S to XXL and the length from 80 to 86 cm.

Moe is a Polish label. Five model numbers sit behind this page, one per colour, and the supplier describes them all alike: a mini dress in crepe with a shirt-like top, an envelope neckline, a collar and long sleeves with buttoned cuffs. The bottom is fitted, in the same envelope style, with creases on the sides.

Two of the five are called green by the supplier. In the photos the first is a bright grass green. The second, our button green 2, is a muted grey-green. The violet is a soft lilac.

You close the dress with a concealed zip on the side. The wrap is fixed, so nothing has to be tied.

Who it's for

For you if you like to balance a short hem with covered arms. Long sleeves and a collar keep it grown-up. The length and the neckline keep it from being prim.

It is a real mini. At 81.5 cm in size M the hem sits at the upper thigh on the model. If that is shorter than you like, wear it with opaque tights or look at our midi dresses instead.

Fabric and feel: crepe with a fine grain

The maker describes the fabric as crepe with a delicate structure. Crepe has a slightly grainy surface that looks matte and drapes well, which is why the folds at the waist fall softly in the photos. The composition is 95% polyester and 5% spandex.

There is no lining. The supplier presents that as a choice: the dress stays light and the fabric lies directly on the body. With the lilac and the bright green, check the fabric in daylight before you decide what to wear underneath.

Fit and silhouette: loose above the waist, close below

The table below is the maker's and applies to every colour. Size M has a chest of 95 cm, a waist of 77 cm and hips of 97 cm. Each size adds 5 cm in width, and the length goes from 80 cm in S to 86 cm in XXL.

In the photos the top blouses a little over the waist and the skirt sits close to the hips. Choose by your hips and waist, since the wrap top has room. When you sit down in a skirt this short, the overlap opens slightly, so try it at home before a long dinner.

Styling: bare legs or black tights

The model wears heeled sandals and nothing else with it. For a summer evening that is all it takes. A thin chain that follows the V of the neckline suits the wrap.

In autumn the same dress works with opaque black tights and ankle boots, and the black version can go under a long coat to the theatre. Keep the bag small. The dress has a lot of detail between the collar and the hem already.

Occasions

The supplier says the long sleeves make it right for colder days too. We see it at a birthday dinner, on a date, at drinks after work or at a Christmas party. The green is a party colour. The black and the brown are the ones you can wear to a restaurant on a Tuesday.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data we receive has no care instructions, so please go by the label sewn into the dress.

Close the side zip and the cuff buttons before any wash, and hang the dress to dry so the folds at the waist keep their shape.

The wow detail: two wraps in one dress

The top wraps one way and the skirt echoes it below. The neckline crosses into a V, and the skirt front crosses again with a rounded edge that curves up at the hem. Between the two, a cluster of folds at one side of the waist pulls everything together. It looks like a dress you tied yourself, and it closes with a zip.
