A loose strappy maxi dress with a low back
This strappy maxi dress by Awama hangs from two thin straps and touches almost nothing on the way down. It is wide from the neckline, it has a deep V at the back, and it ends in a gathered ruffle at floor length.
The fabric is 97% viscose, which the maker calls airy. The dress was designed and sewn in Poland and comes in two sizes, S/M and L/XL, with a length of about 145 cm.

The piece: models 181105 to 181108 by Awama
Awama is a Polish label. Four model numbers sit behind this page, one for each colour, and the supplier describes all four identically: a loose oversized dress with a back neckline, finished at the bottom with a ruffle and meant for summer.
The colours are green, blue, black and beige. In the photos the green is a soft sage, the blue is a strong cobalt and the beige is pale and warm. Our button for the beige one says Peach.
The photos show how the straps work. They are tied in a small bow on each shoulder, so you can shorten or lengthen them yourself. The neckline at the front is gathered, which gives the body its fullness.
Who it's for
For you if heat makes you want to wear as little as possible and still be dressed. Nothing here clings. The supplier says the loose cut suits any figure, and the measurements back that up: 120 cm at the hips in S/M.
It is also for you if you like a quiet front and a surprise at the back. Keep in mind that the low back rules out a regular bra.

Fabric and feel: airy viscose
The composition is 97% viscose and 3% polyester. The maker describes the viscose as airy, and the photos show a matte fabric that falls in long, soft folds and lifts when the model walks. The supplier puts it this way: the dress arranges itself while you move.
Viscose feels cool on the skin, which is what you want from a summer dress. In the paler colours a thin viscose can be a little sheer in bright light, so nude underwear is the safe choice with the beige and the green.
Fit and silhouette: wide all the way down
The table below is the maker's and applies to all four colours. S/M measures 100 cm at the chest, 110 cm at the waist and 120 cm at the hips. L/XL measures 108, 118 and 128 cm. The dress gets wider as it goes down, a tent shape, and that is the design.
The length is 145 cm in S/M and 146 cm in L/XL. On the model it reaches the floor with flat sandals. Because the straps are tied, you can raise the whole dress a few centimetres if you are shorter. If you fall between the two sizes, the smaller one will still be roomy.

Styling: flat sandals and very little else
The model wears flat sandals in every photo, and we would not change that. Add a straw bag and sunglasses and you are dressed for a market or a harbour walk.
To define the waist, tie a thin belt or a scarf around it; the dress has enough fabric to blouse over it. For the evening, wear your hair up so the back shows, and add long earrings. A jeans jacket over the shoulders handles a cool terrace.
Occasions
The supplier calls it a dress for summer. That means holidays, heatwave days at home, beach dinners and garden parties. In black or cobalt it is smart enough for a summer wedding on the coast, with the right jewellery.
It is a relaxed dress, though, and a long one. For cycling to work it is a lot of fabric near the chain.
Care: follow the label
The maker's data we receive has no care instructions, so please go by the label sewn into the dress.
Viscose in general is weaker when wet and can shrink in heat. A cool, gentle wash and drying on a hanger are habits that suit it. Untie the straps first so the bows do not tighten into knots.
The wow detail: the back
From the front it is a simple column of fabric. From behind, the dress opens in a deep V that runs to below the shoulder blades, held only by the two tied straps. Below the V the fabric falls in one long pleat down the centre of the back. It is the view people get when you walk away.
