Carmen is a two-piece set from LaBalancia. You get a cropped top with long sleeves and a pair of high-waisted trousers with wide legs, both in the same black fabric.
The maker gives 95% viscose and 5% elastane. The top is 42 cm long and the trousers 104 cm, in sizes XS/S and M/L.

The piece: two parts, one colour left
The maker describes Carmen as a set of a blouse and trousers for everyday outfits and for special outings. The photos show the blouse as a plain top with a round neck, cropped so that it ends at the waistband.
The trousers sit high. They have two buttons at the waistband and a stitched crease down the front of each leg, which keeps the wide leg looking sharp.
This page used to offer the set in brown shades as well, and the photos of those are still in the gallery. The supplier no longer carries them. Black is the colour you can order.
Who it's for
For you if you like to look put together without thinking about what goes with what. Top and trousers match, and each also works with the rest of your wardrobe.
The top is short. With the high waist of the trousers only a narrow strip of skin shows, and less if you stand still. If you prefer none, wear a bodysuit or a longer top underneath.

In the photos the model has a hand in a side pocket of the trousers. The maker does not list pockets, so we mention them as something we see and cannot promise.
Fabric and feel: viscose with stretch
Both pieces are 95% viscose and 5% elastane. In the photos the fabric is smooth and matte with some weight, so the trousers hang straight and swing when the model walks.
The elastane gives stretch, which is why the waist is given as a range. The maker does not call it satin, and we see no satin shine in the photos.
Fit and silhouette: short on top, long and wide below
XS/S has a chest of 88 cm, a waist of 66 to 82 cm and hips of 104 cm. M/L has 92 cm, 70 to 86 cm and 108 cm. The lengths are the same in both sizes: 42 cm for the top and 104 cm for the trousers.
The trouser length is the one to check against your own legs. On the model in heels the hem almost touches the ground. In flat shoes you may want to take it up.

Styling: together, then apart
The photos show the full set with heeled sandals, sunglasses and a small bag. In black that is an easy outfit for dinner or the office.
Split it up and you get more out of it. The trousers go with a white shirt or a fine knit. The top goes with a high-waisted skirt or jeans. A long coat over the whole set looks very good in autumn.
Occasions
The maker suggests everyday wear and special outings. We would wear it to work, to a dinner, to a birthday and on a city trip, because viscose with stretch is comfortable to sit and walk in for a long day.

The maker's data has no care instructions, so follow the labels sewn into the top and the trousers.
Wash the two pieces together so the black stays the same shade on both.

Look at the front of the trouser legs. The crease is stitched, so it stays where it is after washing and sitting. On a wide leg in a soft fabric that one line makes the difference between pyjama and tailored.
