A draped wrap top in soft viscose knit

This wrap top from BeWear crosses over at the front and gathers at the hip, so the fabric falls in soft folds across the body. The neckline is a deep V and the short sleeves are cut wide, in a batwing shape.

It is made of 92% viscose with 8% spandex, designed and made in Poland. You can choose from four colours, in sizes S to XXL.

The piece: models 193661 to 193664 by BeWear

The maker describes a blouse in a viscose knit with an envelope cut and draping, a deep neckline and short batwing sleeves. It is designed and manufactured in Poland.

An earlier version of this page mentioned shoulder pads. The maker does not list any, and we cannot confirm them from the photos, so they are no longer in the name. What you do see on the shoulder is a few small pleats where the sleeve begins.

The model wears the top with wide trousers in the same fabric. Those are sold separately.

Who it's for

For you if you want a top that is dressed without being stiff. A wrap front with draping is kind to the midriff, because the folds sit where a plain top would cling.

The neckline is deep. If you prefer more cover, a lace-trim camisole underneath solves it. The cut is loose, with a chest of 96 cm in S and 116 cm in XXL.

Closer look: what the maker's data and the photos show

  • Envelope cut with draping (maker's data); the front panels cross and are gathered at one side of the hem (photos)
  • Deep neckline (maker's data); a V formed by the wrap (photos)
  • Short batwing sleeves (maker's data); cut in one with the body, ending just over the shoulder (photos)
  • Viscose knit, soft to the touch (maker's data); a fine, fluid jersey (photos)
  • Hem at the hip (photos); 57 to 59 cm long (size table)
  • Designed and made in Poland (maker's data)

Fabric and feel: viscose jersey with 8% spandex

The composition is 92% viscose and 8% spandex. The maker calls it a viscose knit that is soft to the touch.

Viscose jersey is cool on the skin and heavy enough to hang, which is why the draping falls in clean folds in the photos. The spandex lets the wrap move with you and spring back.

Fit and silhouette: loose on top, gathered at the hip

The table gives a total length of 57 cm in S, rising by half a centimetre per size to 59 cm in XXL. The chest goes from 96 cm to 116 cm in steps of 5 cm.

Those chest figures are generous for each size, because the top is meant to drape. Take your usual size. Going down a size will pull the wrap open at the neckline.

Size chart (cm)

Size Total length Chest
S 57 96
M 57.5 101
L 58 106
XL 58.5 111
XXL 59 116

Source: the maker's size table, the same for all four colours. The chest figure reads as the width around the top itself, which is cut loose.

Styling: with wide trousers or a pencil skirt

The photos show the top with wide trousers in the same colour and large earrings or cuffs. Head-to-toe colour makes a simple top look like an occasion outfit.

It is just as good with a pencil skirt for work or with jeans on Saturday. Because the neckline is a V, a pendant fits well.

Occasions

The maker says it suits many occasions. We would wear it to the office, to dinner and to a birthday.

In black or burgundy it works in the evening. In beige or blue it is a daytime top.

Care: follow the label

The maker's data has no care instructions, so follow the label sewn into the top.

Viscose can shrink and lose shape when it is wet. Until you have read the label, wash cool, do not wring, and dry it flat.

The wow detail: the gathered point

All the folds on the front run to one point at the side of the hem. From there they fan out over the body, up to the shoulder. It is a draping trick dressmakers use on evening gowns, built here into a jersey top you can wear with jeans.
