These high-waisted shorts with belt by Italy Moda look like tailored trousers cut short. They have pleats at the front, a turned-up hem and slip pockets, and they come with a black belt that closes with a large gold-tone chain link.
Two things to know. You get the shorts and the belt; the tops in the photos are styling. And only pink and blue can be ordered.

The piece: shorts and a belt, nothing else
Italy Moda describes them in two sentences: women's shorts with an elastic waistband and slip pockets, with a decorative belt. The supplier files them under shorts, and that is what ships.
An older version of this page presented them as a two-piece outfit with a crop top. That was wrong. Every colour in the photos is styled with a different top, and none of those tops comes with the shorts.
The two colours you can order are the bright pink in the first photos and the azure blue further down.
Who they're for
For you if you want shorts that can go to a terrace dinner as easily as to the beach. The pleats and the belt do the dressing up, and the elastic waistband keeps them comfortable.
The size range is generous, from S to XXL, with a waist that stretches from 67 to 74 cm in S and from 84 to 91 cm in XXL.

The maker does not say what the belt or its buckle is made of. The buckle is gold in colour only.
Fabric and feel: polyester with 5% spandex
For the pink and the blue shorts the maker gives 95% polyester and 5% spandex. In the photos the fabric is smooth and matte with some body, so the pleats stay pressed and the hem keeps its fold.
The spandex and the elastic waistband together give room to move and to sit. The maker lists no lining.
Fit and silhouette: high on the waist, short on the leg
The maker's table gives a hip width of 96 cm in S, 98 cm in M, 100 cm in L, 104 cm in XL and 110 cm in XXL. The waist is given as a range, because the band is elastic: 71 to 78 cm in M and 81 to 87 cm in XL, for example.
There is no length in the table. On the models the hem sits at the upper thigh and the waistband at the navel. The belt is elastic too, so it follows the waist you choose.

Styling: a short top or a tucked one
The pink pair is worn with an orange bandeau top and the blue pair with an orange cropped T-shirt, both loud on purpose.
The belt is the centrepiece, so let it show. Tuck your top in or keep it short. For the evening, heels and a blazer turn the shorts into a suit for hot weather.
Occasions
The maker says they suit many stylings. In practice: a city trip in July, lunch on a terrace, a festival day, a holiday dinner. In an office without a strict dress code the blue pair with a shirt will pass on a hot Friday.
Care: follow the label
The maker's data has no care instructions, so follow the sewn-in label. Take the belt off before washing. The buckle and the washing machine are not friends.
The wow detail: the chain-link buckle
The belt closes with three oversized chain links in a gold tone. It is the first thing you see in every photo, and it changes the shorts from sportswear into something you could wear with heels. Because the belt is separate, you can also wear it with a dress.
