Two thin branches, each with a few small leaves, curve towards each other and stop just before they meet. That gap is the idea: the ring is open, so you can press it a little tighter or ease it a little wider.

Materials: what the supplier states

According to the supplier the base is 925 sterling silver, the surface is 18K gold-plated and the stones are zircon. Plating is a thin layer over another metal, so "gold-plated" is not the same as solid gold, and we describe the colour as gold-tone.

There is no certificate on file. The supplier does not state the thickness of the plating, the weight of the ring or the size of the stones, and we will not guess at them.

Size: 7, with room to adjust

The supplier lists one size, 7, with a circumference of 5.6 cm (2.2 inches in the supplier's chart). Wrap a strip of paper around your finger, mark where it overlaps and measure it to compare.

Because the band is open you can adjust it slightly. Do it gently and not too often; the supplier does not say how far the ring can be bent.

Styling: alone or stacked

In the photos it is worn alone on the ring finger with a chunky knit sleeve, and that contrast suits it. It is fine enough to stack with a plain band, and gold-tone enough to sit next to a watch or bracelet in the same colour.

Care: no instructions from the supplier

The supplier gives no care instructions. The general advice for gold-plated jewellery is to take it off before showering, swimming and using perfume or hand cream, and to store it dry in its box. That is common practice, not a supplier instruction.
