Materials and build: gold-plated steel and zircon

According to the supplier the chain and charms are stainless steel with an 18K gold plating, and the stones are zircon. This is gold-tone jewellery with a thin gold layer, not solid gold. No plating thickness or test report is given.

An anklet gets more wear than a necklace: it meets shoes, sand and water. Expect a gold-plated piece to show that sooner or later.

Size and dimensions: 22.1 cm plus extension

The supplier gives a chain length of 8.7 inches, which is 22.1 cm, and an extension chain of 2 inches, 5.1 cm. You can close the clasp anywhere along the extension.

Measure around your ankle just above the bone and add a centimetre or so for comfort. If the result falls between the chain length and the chain plus extension, it will fit.

Styling: cropped hems and bare feet

The photo on the ankle shows it with cropped jeans, the charms resting on the foot. That is how to wear it: with a hem that ends above the ankle, sandals, mules or bare feet.

Gold tones look good on tanned skin and next to white, and a second fine chain on the same ankle is a nice touch if you like layering.

Care: no instructions from the supplier
